AVG anti spyware is a free 30 day version. after 30 days the real-time protection or "guard" as its callled becomes disabled unless you buy it, but you are still able to update it and scan your computer.

SuperantiSpyware is "donationware" they have a free and pro version
either one is good, really only one is needed. try out both of them, go with the one you like best, ease of use, options, etc.

been using avg spyware but my computer always restart…. a window will appear and will say this: windows detected a problem and will now restart to prevent further damage to your computer. if this is your first time to see this message try to disable BIOS memory option shadowing and caching. how will i do this? i hope you can help me, and also i cannot use system restore whenever i will restore it is always restoration incomplete. cannot be restored… i hope you can help me thanks so much sir good day….

been using avg spyware but my computer always restart.

it restarts only when you use AVG? or at other times, restarts dont always mean a malware problem
if it only happens with AVG, uninstall it.

we will try something for the restore after we make sure you computer is malware free.

its either restarting if am using the internet or the avg both ways,, i cant finish the scanning of avg anti spyware it always restart but also if am on the internet sometimes it restarts automatically saying that problem… what do you think is the problem ? hope you can help me sir…… thanks … have a nice day…..

hi medically tekki, so you had the restart problem before you installed AVG? try this: run avg in safe mode. to reach safe mode you would tap the f8 key during a computer restart. chose the first option from the list: safe mode. once in safe mode run AVG. Lauch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan". ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time. Once the scan is complete do the following: If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions" Next select the "Reports" icon at the top. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important). Close AVG Anti-Spyware and Reboot in Normal Mode. please post the saved avg report in next reply. shelf life
