Hello Dankers,

So far, so good. Let's do some cleanup with HJT.

Run HijackThis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Intra 4 beep mode] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\saferoadintra4\Wipe mapi.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Bait Bias] C:\DOCUME~1\AMDPC~1\APPLIC~1\CITYMF~1\warnjoy.exe

Then close all windows except this one and press Fix checked.

Using Windows Explorer delete the following folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\saferoadintra4<–Folder
C:\DOCUME~1\AMDPC~1\APPLIC~1\CITYMF~1<–Folder Note that the files are truncated on this but that folder is in the same application data folder as the first entry. The first 6 characters are Citymf but I can't see the rest. You should be able to see it though in Windows Explorer. Let me know if you're not sure.

Use ATF Cleaner to remove temp files, cookies, cache, ect…

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it.

Under Main select the following:
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Reboot and post a new HJT log and please let me know how things are running now. Provide details if you are still having issues.

One other observation too. There appears to be two Anti-Virus programs running real time protection, Norman and Nod32. This can cause many issues including system slow down, conflicts, ect…
You can keep both installed but just use one for real-time scanning and disable the other. The disabled program can still be used for one-time scans.

In general you never want to run 2 Anti-Virus or Firewall programs at the same time. Other types of Spyware protection such as Spybot, SpywareBlaster, ect… are usually OK (and recommended) to have multiple programs running for layered protection.

Regards,
Dave
Hello Dave,

Thanks for the quick reply.
I did everything you asked me except foor the deletetion of
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\saferoadintra4<–Folder and
C:\DOCUME~1\AMDPC~1\APPLIC~1\CITYMF~1.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\saferoadintra4 i can't delete, because the file is in use by someone else or a program. It says it couldn't delete Bend upload long.

I can't find C:\DOCUME~1\AMDPC~1\APPLIC~1\CITYMF~1 in explorer.

The other things i have done and here's my fresh Hijack this log.

Hi Dankers,

OK, let's try this:

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\saferoadintra4\Wipe mapi.exe
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Confirm Delete box.

Now using Windows Explorer you should be able to delete this folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\saferoadintra4<–Folder

Now, on the C:\DOCUME~1\AMDPC~1\APPLIC~1\CITYMF~1 Folder. It should look like this.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Citymf… If there is no folder beginning with Citymf then it was likely taken care of with HJT. If you do see it then go ahead and delete it.

Now, how are things running at this point? Do you still have any issues?

Regards,
Dave

Great, glad to hear things are running better.

Please do the following to help prevent future re-infection.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which may be infected anyway).

Click Start>Help and Support>Undo changes to your computer with System Restore
Select Create A Restore Point then click Next. Give it a name it and then click Create

Click Start>Run and type Cleanmgr
Click the More Options Tab.
Click Clean Up in the System Restore section.

Your Java Runtime Environment is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Enviroinment (JRE) 6, The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save it to your desktop (12.6 MB).
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially any web browsers.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windowsi586.exe to install the newest version.
It appears that you have pretty good anti-malware prevention currently in place. Just make sure to keep it updated and running.

Here is a great link to a post here on securing your PC after an attack.

Hope these suggestions help.
