My AVG (anti-virus) program is trying to connect to a website sometimes shown as m85.94.188.172 but different numbers have been known. I'm puzzled, have I been hijacked?
Any help appreciated.

You are running HJT directly from the desktop.
Create a folder called HJT either in C: or My documents and place the
hijackthis.exe in there.
This will ensure we have back ups made and it doesn't get deleted .

The infection you have may be blocking something I need to see.

Rename Hijackthis.
Right click on hijackthis and choose rename.
Rename it to noname.
Do another scan and post that log.

I've mucked things up at this end, I had already installed AVG AntiSpyware and run it, if found eight (8) objects and these were quarantined. This was before your last message. Sorry! Kaspersky is currently running a scan, it's found one (1) virus and fifty (50) objects. I'm amazed, I have AVG Antivirus installed and it's updated daily and does a complete scan every night - there have been no negative results from these scans.
Would you accept a fresh beginning with a new HiJackThis logfile once everything as been run?
I'm afraid that Kaspersky keeps crashing mid-way into it's scan, I've tried the online check eight (8) times now so there is something seriously wrong with my system. I'm going to do a complete restore from a backup made well before these problems existed, I've no other option now. I would wish to record my thanks and appreciation for your help. Take care and may 2007 be good for you. Isgarn
