Hello rick2u

Copy and Paste this post into a new text document or print it out for reference.

Step 1

You currently are running HijackThis from the Temp Folder

You must place HiJack this into it's own folder,
If we ever need to restore any Item then this folder will safely store all entries
and enable us to then use the Back-up feature that Hijack This offers

Create a New Folder HijackThis on the C: drive,

Open My Computer ( Windows key + E )
then double click on Local Disk (C:)
Now right click and select
New > Folder and name it HJT.

Please now move HijackThis.exe into the new HJT folder.
Do this BEFORE you proceed!

Step 2

Please go to: http://virusscan.jotti.org/
At the top select the Browse button then navigate to this File and Submit it to be scanned.
C:\WINDOWS\ukqxej.exe
can you please Copy & Paste the scan result in your next reply

Can you please also upload this file to be scanned at Jotti
C:\WINDOWS\iuvoa.exe
Please also Copy & Paste these result's in your next reply

Step 3

Please Download the latest SmitfraudFix by S!Ri from either of these mirrors to your desktop:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.zip

Right click SmitfraudFix.zip and Extract (unzip) the SmitfraudFix folder inside to your desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click "smitfraudfix.cmd"
Select option #1 - "Search" by typing "1" and press "Enter".
Please copy & paste the SmitfraudFix text file which appears back here please.

Step 4

Please Re-scan with HijackThis and post

1/ The new HJT log
2/ The Jotti Results
3/ The SmitfraudFix text file

Thank you.
HI

Thanks for your help

I created the HJT folder
I ran all jobs in the order requested
As noted below thesmitfraud log, those two windows files you wanted JOTTI to scan were NOT on my computer. I did check thoroughly for you (I was once a UNIX sys admin, though 20 years ago)

Hi Again

I only had time to try jotti again before heading to work will do the rest later.

i cut and pasted the file names (never thought of doing that before sorry) and in both cases got this answer

cut and pasted quote The file you uploaded is 0 bytes. It is very likely a firewall or a piece of malware is prohibiting you from uploading this file
Zone alarm was off, internet firewall was off

Any suggestion on how to overcome this one, Ill do the rest when I get home.

regards

rod

Ensure you keep your Firewall Turned on at all times and please just follow on with the rest on my Instructions

In your next reply please post a new HijackThis log and The AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 Report-Scan.txt

Thank you
Hi Again
Finally finshed.
The only reason I had turned off my firewall before was due to jotti telling me it may be stopping sending the files there.
I tried jotti again, same response, no files send, malware or firewall might be stopping me.

Have done all as asked

Thanks for your help. Presuming all is now well, my next question is my system safe to keep using, or should I just now consider it clean enough to trust my files and reformat my hard drive. I had NORTONs antivirus running, to I keep that, or buy AVG - and do I keep Zone Alarm running as well.

I had outerinfo pop ups for months, nortons got rid of that when I put it on, can I consider that threat gone now too.

Ill wait to hear from you again

cheers

Rick2u
Hello rick2u

I had NORTONs antivirus running, to I keep that, or buy AVG - and do I keep Zone Alarm running as well.

As long as your system has One Anti-Virus and One Firewall running then that is fine,
as you mention AVG please note this is an 'Anti-Spyware' product that will help to keep your system clean of malware
after the trial period ends for the AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 you will lose it's Real-time protection but you will still be able to scan and clean your system with this software

"Ok" Things are looking better after the AVG scan.. can you please now
Click Start | Run and type cleanmgr in the run box
Checkmark these: Temporary Files | Temporary Internet Files | Recycle Bin
Click OK to start the cleanup and wait for it to finish.

Go to Start | Control Panel | Internet Options
In the General tab, Temporary Internet Files, click: Delete Files
When prompted, check: Delete all offline content
You can also check: Delete Cookies
(You will have to re-enter passwords at websites that require them.)
Click OK

Now Please Use Internet Explorer and Run one of these Online scanners

Panda ActiveScan

Kaspersky On-line Scanner

Please Re-scan and post a new Hijackthis log and the results from either of these online scans
and can you please let me know how your system is running now

Thank you.
Hi

All done

I have done as you have asked.

How is my computer running, is seems okay, the homepage went back to about blank the other day, dont know if my system restore works again yet, ill have to try it and see

Would you recommend a full format and restore just in case, or do you believe I am fine now.

With Nortons and Zone Alarm, I guess Im as covered as I can be

Whats the outcome of these new scans.

And thanks again

here is panda active scan

Thank you.

Hello rick2u

Important Can you please not use System Restore this is because when we have your system fully clean
we will need to Purge all of your System Restore Points so you don't Re-infect yourself..

Step 1

Things are looking better now but your HijackThis log is quite hard to read, to correct this Please Open Notepad, (Start | Run, type Notepad)
Click Format from the Notepad menu and ensure "Word Wrap" is NOT selected.

Step 2

Before we start you will need to make a back-up of the registry. This is standard procedure before carrying out any alterations to it.
Go to Start > Run, enter "regedit" (without the quotes) and click on OK.
Highlight My Computer by clicking on it and then go to File > Export…
Give the file an appropriate name, registry backup perhaps, leave the "Save As Type:" as it is and save it somewhere safe.
The Desktop is NOT a good idea as it's too close to the Recycle Bin for comfort!
This may take a moment or two so don't worry.

Go to: Start | Run, type in Notepad

Copy the Red Text below into Notepad.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{A1426AC5-8CE5-4A00-B71E-011D35709AC6}]

Click : File | Save As
Change the Save as type to All Files
Save it to your desktop as fix.reg

Locate Fix.reg [external image: Posted Image] on your desktop and double-click it.
When asked if you want to merge with the registry, click YES.
Wait for the merged successfully prompt.

Step 3

Go to Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall:

any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name

Restart the computer.

Now CLICK HERE select the Download button next to "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 10"
"Accept" the License Agreement Then choose the First download link "Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language".
Please note - You must Install this version Offline.

Now please Re-scan and post a new HijackThis log

Thank you
Hi

All done thanks again, have noted not to use restore. But do I go and delete all restore points just to be sure

Will wait further instructoins, thanks you

regards

rick2u
