Need help removing Gopher Search Malware - HijackThis Log included.

hiya,

Can anyone help me to get rid of the Malware Gopher search, tried all the usual techniques I know to but nothing's worked so far, then i came across HijackThis and am now feeling like a newbie needing help!

I can see 5 lines i need to check and fix, but would prefer if someone who knew better took a look for me.

Click the HERE and Save, Install, Update and run a full scan.


Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment

Hi, cheers for the reply.

I'm doing this on my girlfriends comp, so not 100% sure but i think the only abnormalities on the comp are the following:

1) IE defaults to gophersearch.com when started.
2) Random Porn websites popping up.
3) Random Porn/$$$ icons appearing on desktop.

I've followed all your steps so far, please find the Logfile below.

I suggest you do this:

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.


1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove if listed:
RXToolbar



Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"



Delete this File if listed:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tb22.dll




Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.
