OK…hope this is the right place to post this.

The problem is that my Windows IE search function window (on the ledt side) is not working properly. It will pop-up and search for terms, show the terms, but when I go to click the links…they will not link at all. Each one seems to be a redirect to some sort of Yahoo page, but it won't even link to the page. For example:

I search ABC company.

I get ABC company links. When I run my cursor over the links, I get this:

http://av.rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9ibyJwBaoRFI…zdWx0BHNlYwNzcg

But then, the compy won't even redirect or link.

Anyone know how to fix this or what my next step should be? I have Windows XP Media Center Edition, BTW, and IE Explorer 6.02.

Thank you advance!
Hi, Sorry to hear of the problem with your computer, not linking to the correct sites.

There could be a number of reasons for this behavior so as a first step, post a HIJackThis log over on the following forum:

A trained malware removal expert will be able to check if your computer has any maicious elemnts present and offer, if necessary, specific advice and removal instructions.

When your computer is delared clean the usual first steps to take are:
(Source courtesy of www.experts-exchange.com)

1) IE -> Tools -> Internet Options
2) General tab, delete related cookies (or save to disk first) and temporary internet files, including all offline content
3) Advanced tab–> restore defaults and click Apply
4) Programs tab -> reset web setting and back on General, type in your desired home page after the reset. Also check default Email program here for accuracy.
5) Privacy tab,set to Default levels
6) Security tab and for each zone set levels to Default Levels then click OK…
7) Close IE for settings changes to take, reboot and try again.

If you have no joy then the next step is reinstall repair IE6 and full instructions are given here:

If I were you I would resist the temptation to upgrade to IE7 until your IE6 is working correctly, however others might disagree and suggest it as a first step.

It is, of course your decision.
