Like stated in the title, I have a laptop that's taking around 5min to fully boot up. I have ran SpyBot and it comes down to WinAntiVirusPro2006 and it says its removed but it keeps finding it no matter how many times I actually run the program. The only info I can give at this time is a HJT log, so I hop this helps out. If there are any other problems shown in the HJT log, please let me know.

Hello mustang66gtguy and Welcome to the TomCoyote,

You are running HijackThis from its zipped archive; please create a new folder for it and unzip the program into it. It is very important you do this before anything else! Please do not have hijacthis in a temporary folder either.

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Please post:
C:\rapport.txt
A fresh hijackthis log.

I'm working on the ewido at the moment…do i need just the file for "ewido" or do i need the "avg spyware" file also?
Let me clarify my question "I'm working on the ewido at the moment…do i need just the file for "ewido" or do i need the "avg spyware" file also?" I'm downloading the files manually and I'm not sure if I need all the files listed, or just the "full database - ewido" thanks again
Ewido has changed and the name is AVG Anti-spyware so it will be the log from AVG anti-spyware. Hope this clarifies things. Do not run the AVG scan yet!
Clean

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
______________________________

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.

[external image: Posted Image]

The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

  • A new HijackThis log
Your may need several replies to post the requested logs, otherwise they might get cut off.
ok, i just finished running AVG spyware and i never received the notification in this area: "If AVG Anti-spyware finds anything, it will pop up a notification. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says Perform action on all infections and put a checkmark in the box next to Create encrypted backup, then choose clean and click Ok." I ran the report, I have 18 medium "traces". Do I need to delete them…if so, how is it done on this program? After this I will finish up the steps you requested and post the most current logs. thank you

Hi mustang66gtguy, It appears that you saved the report before the AVG cleaned those files. Please run the scan again and post (reply) and I bet the report will be different. How is your computer running now?
windows is still taking a long time to boot up from the login screen to where all the icons are shown on the desktop…that's still in the five minute range. But, on the other hand, the AVG scan didnt remove those threats listed. I will rerun it again tonight and report back this evening. Also, I'm not sure if the smitfraudfix.cmd did anything. The "cleaning" part of the scan went by pretty quick…is this normal? other than than, between 6-630 this evening CST and I should have the updated infor for avg. thanks again

Sorry for the delay. It has been unusual week.

STEP 1.
======
Combofix
  • Download this file - combofix.exe
  • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Please post the ComboFix log in your next reply.

STEP 2.
======
Please show all files for your system.
You will need to reverse this process when all steps are done.

Submit File to Jotti
Please click on Jotti
Use the "Browse" button and locate the following file on your computer:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fonrkn.exe
Click the "Submit" button.
Please copy and post (reply) with the results

If Jotti's service load is too high, you can use the following scanner instead:
http://www.virustotal.com/xhtml/index_en.html

Please also check the properties of those files (right-click and select properties from the popupmenu). Look if you can find some company information, etc.

STEP 3.
======
Go to Add/Remove Programs via the Control Panel and scroll down to the System Doctor 2006 and double click it to remove/uninstall it if it exists
Scan with HijackThis. Place a check against each of the following:
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,gtlausg.exe
