Hi
This virus came into my computer via MSN and keeps loading an extra tool bar to my web browser (888bar) it also loads several icons to the desktop which are: psetup.exe, install.exe, ww.exe, mtinstall. These cannot be deleted or just bounce straight back. I have run Adaware and Spybot which find and remove many problems but as soon as the web browser or MSN is used they just reinstall. I tried running all this while in safe mode but same result. I await your expert help. Thankyou.
Hello and welcome to the forum.

Sorry about the delay in responding :(

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Please use the [external image: Posted Image] Button below to reply. Thanks
Thanks for your reply.
My problem has become much worse now. When I start up the computer loads then shuts down and keeps restarting. This only happens when it is connected to the internet. I have had todisconnect my cable to stop it and am sending this reply from my laptop. I have included a new scan.

Regards Stephen

No! All went as outlined with services.msc, but when I ran the hijack scan there was no file "O23 - Service: COM+ Messages - Unknown owner - -e,mc-110-12-0001411, (file missing)" Stephen
It shows in the HJT log

O23 - Service: COM+ Messages - Unknown owner - -e,mc-110-12-0001411, (file missing)

Click Start> Run> type in CMD tap enter key
Copy/Paste: ipconfig /flushdns
If you are typing this in, note the space between the g /f
It needs to be there.

Now lets check some settings on your system.
Enter your Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections

Then right click on your Default Connection
Usually Local Area Connection for Cable and DSL
Left click on Properties
Double-Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item
Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically
Note: Do this for all Network Connections
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks

Next:

Lets see if we can get the PC back on the internet. This file will fit on a floppy or thumb drive.

Get a copy of winsockxpfix.exe You just run it and
things should work OK after it reboots your system.

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html
So far so good! System still on line and NOT rebooting. However that bloody "install.exe" appeared again and those same entries in the HJT log which I immediately fixed. Also In my 'VET' virus software the email protection has been turned off and cannot be turned back on. More thanks Stephen
