Hi,
My computer was working fine but of late has really slowed down and I was concerned about spyware. I was wondering if somebody could take a look at my log and advise me. I would areally appreciate any advice. At the moment I have like 80 processes running. Thanks.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.


(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thnks for your advice. I did the task you suggested and here is my new HJT log. Also, is there a reson that the computer takes such a long time to boot up? I do't understand what are essential programs and what are not. Thanks for your advice.

Also, is there a reason that the computer takes such a long time to boot up?

Well you have Symantec Norton's anti-virus and network software that needs to startup.

I don't know how much ram memory you have or drive space.

When was the last time you ran Disk Defragmenter?


1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove if listed:
Windows Defender

That's the only safe thing I see to uninstall.

Empty Recycle bin

Reboot and let me know if that helped.

Thanks a lot for all your helpful advice. Was the log OK after using ATF cleaner? Also, should I start another thread for my desktop computer or can I post the log in the same thread? I am having problems with my desktop as well with log.txt files popping up. Thanks a lot.
