Post back with the results. (Not sure where they are located, either in C:\Program Files\GRISOFT\AVG Anti-Rootkit Beta\ folder or on your desktop.)
did not save any kind of log file, there are only two files in the folder (avgark.LNG & avtitle.dat) and nothing on the desktop i did run spybot and there was an entry for "Microsoft windows.active desktop"
Good, that means no rootkits. Soory I've been real busy  So what are the issues you're having now? Just the lack of seeing pictures on web pages?

From the Start menu, select Search, select All Files and Folders. Select More Advanced Options and place a checkmark beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option. Ensure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked. In the All or Part of the File Name box, type ie.inf In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder. Click the Search button. In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file located in Windows\Inf folder. Right click the ie.inf file and click Install on the context menu. Reboot the computer when the file copy process is complete. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 318378 How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP
Tried the above but, since I do not have the install disk (was prompted for it) found this in the knowlege base, wanted ot get your take. How to Repair or Return to Previous Internet Explorer Installation If the Internet Explorer Repair Tool Verification does not work, or if Internet Explorer 5 is not listed in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel, you may be able to start the Internet Explorer Repair tool from a command prompt. To do so, click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt" this is from: Article ID : 293907
do I type in the whole line? rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"
That would be my guess. Also try this: You might want to login as Administrator if you can read the D: If that doesn't work, see if you have this file: D:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\ie.inf Right Click on ie.inf and select install.
