Pop-ups in both IE and Firefox, plus search hijacks

Hi: My husband's computer has been suffering from pop-ups for several weeks now. The pop-ups are for WinAntiVirus mostly, but we see a few other ones on occasion. When he was using only IE 6, they would take over as soon as he opened the browser. We downloaded Firefox, but in that browser the invader creates new tabs. Housecall spotted a Trojan named OrbitExplorer, but couldn't clean it (couldn't clean anything, really, since it always froze at the cleaning stage). We then bought Trend Micro's PC-cillin Antivirus, but it didn't catch much–until we upgraded to IE 7. Now, Trend Micro gives constant real-time alerts saying that it spots Vundo but can't clean it. The alerts are more annoying and disruptive than the pop-ups! And now, in IE 7, searching in Google and clicking on a search result (for a Microsoft page, in our experiment) sometimes leads to an unexpected page instead. Hope you can help!

Hi archerhawkand welcome to Tom Coyote forums

I am currently looking over your log. As I am an Undergraduate, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Thanks for your patience!
dan
Hi archerhawk

I believe we have some files hiding from us

Please go to the C:\Program Files\HijackThis folder. Right click on the HijackThis.exe file and select "Rename". Rename it removal.exe,

Then run HijackThis again and post a new log please.
Thanks dan
Hi Dan: Thanks for taking our case. Here's the new log.

Hi Dan: I'm at work now too, so I won't be able to get to this until late tonight or early tomorrow morning (Pacific time). No need to apologize for any delays, though; we know this stuff takes time and effort. I'll have those files uploaded soon. Thanks again!
Dan: I have uploaded two of the files, lyfwwlys.dll and nunsaahc.dll. I could not find the other two you mentioned, even after showing hidden files and folders (I looked in the System32 folder myself, and I did a search too); I hope that isn't a serious problem.
Hi archerhawk, You can go ahead with the second part of the Instruction I gave you for vundo now. I didn't want to delete the files untill I had sent them away to be looked at. post vundo report when done. Thanks dan
Hi Dan: VundoFix deleted the two files. Here are the new logs.
