Click Start> Run> type in CMD tap enter key
Copy/Paste: ipconfig /flushdns

Now lets check some settings on your system.
Enter your Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections

Then right click on your Default Connection
Usually Local Area Connection for Cable and DSL
Left click on Properties
Double-Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item
Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks

Where there any IP settings listed under the DNS items?
First part seemed to go OK Default setting for network connections is Dial up ADSL (LAN connection not being used) so took a bit longer to find my TCP/IP. Already set to Obtain DNS servers automatically, no items listed under the DNS items.
Thankyou for all your help. It has been suggested that this may be memory resident. Maybe never know. I am now all backed up except for emails, we are having problems opening the .pst files that were backed up on to CD Rom. Once that is sorted then I am all ready to reformat and reinstall Windows, all disc and licence keys are in place, just waiting for SP2 on disc to arrive. Rosalind
