PC only 3 weeks old, but something wrong, log attached

My old PC had become HOPELESS, so I bought a new one 3 weeks ago, worked fine at first, but after my teenage kids, now it's hard to operate and usually won't log on to internet. Does my hijack this log give any clues???

Hello Steve :D

Sorry for the delay in responding, but we have an over abundance of logs at the moment. AAAh kids and computers, glad mine are all married and have there own computers :D

I see only one suspicious entry in your log. Lets do a few things.


Your HIJACKTHIS program is current, but it is very important that it resides in its own folder.
We will use Hijackthis (HJT) to make changes to your system and HJT will make backups of those changes,
If HJT is not in its own folder, those backups could be lost.

Easy to fix.
  • just go to My Computer > YOUR C:\ DRIVE > Program Files and create a new folder and name it Hijackthis .
  • Now scroll to where you have HJT currently, right click on the HJT icon and select CUT .
  • Now open the new folder you just created and right click within that folder and select PASTE .
  • Now HJT should reside in C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\Hijackthis.exe



Open HJT Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, check this entry and click on Fix Checked

Run this free online virus scanner from Panda, it may pick up some bad entires that are not showing up on your HJT log. It's important that I see the log so copy and paste it into your next reply.
Panda ActiveScan <—-Accept default settings




Now go to where you have HJT installed and right click on Hijackthis.exe and rename it to Analyze.exe run a scan and post the Panda report and a new HJT log into this thread.

And to add once again, it seems to work much better if I Don't use the Earthlink Accelerator and toolbar. Worked Great at first, but now internet is faster/more dependable just clicking on a page and connecting directly through IE.

FYI, the reason for renaming HJT is that there are infections going around that are written to go undetected by HJT, by renaming it those infections could show up on your log and they did not :thumbup:


You can fix these with HJT.
