Computer is running fine, but something is still uploading like mad!! A couple days ago it didnt upload anything at all and I though it was ok, but this weekend it came back with a vengance!! Any Idea what it could be? Thanks for all your help.
Download Silentrunners.zip Unzip it to your desktop and doubleclick on it.

Run the SilentRunners.vbs file. If your antivirus has a script blocker, you will get a warning asking if you want to allow SilentRunners.vbs to run. It might say something like "Malicious Script Warning". This script is not malicious so you are safe in allowing it to run.

Let it run for about 1 minute, When it has finished it will produce a Startup Programs text file. Copy and paste that text file here in your next reply.

Download WinPFind.zip

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.
Please print these instructions as you will be going into safe mode.
Reboot your computer into Safe Mode by following the following steps:

Reboot.
When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe. When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to scart scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while. When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

"XoftSpy" -> launches: "C:\Program Files\XoftSpy\XoftSpy.exe -t" [file not found] < no file!

Please go to > control panel > software and uninstall:
XoftSpy

1) Please download Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop and run it.

2) Select "Delete on Reboot".

3) Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\usb_info.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ansi.cfg

4) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

5) Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you have any issues with this method you can copy and paste the lines one at a time into the killbox top box. Then click the Single File button. Then click the Red X …and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes. A second message will ask to Reboot now? you will need to click No until the last one at which time you click Yes to allow the reboot.

Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be removed on next reboot and asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES
If you don't get that message, reboot manually.

Especially when surfing with other browsers then IE (which have the Java built-in) it is very important to update your Java software. Sun's Java is updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities. For this reason, it's extremely important that you remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system.

Go here and click on the Download button to the right of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9.
  • Accept the license agreement by clicking the radio button.
  • Under Windows Platform - J2SE™ Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 9 click the Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language link.
  • Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove any entries that refer to Java 2 Runtime Enviroment
It should have next icon next to it: [external image: Posted Image]
    and then reboot your PC.
  • Navigate to and delete the following folder, if it exists: C:\Program Files\Java.
  • Finally double click the installation file that you downloaded earlier.

* Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
  • Choose the "Scan"-tab, remove the mark at "Heuristic analysis".
  • Back at the main window, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: [external image: Posted Image]
  • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
    [external image: Posted Image]
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply together with a fresh HJT-log :)

Computer is running great, but im still uploading :/
Thanks for all your help thus far, I really appreciate it.
Did you do tha Java update as I suggested?
I still see this older version of Java in your log.

Download FREE TRIAL from Spy Sweeper.
You will find the link to the download at the bottom of the page.

Click Spy Sweeper 5.2 – Free trial, NOT the link for "Free Spyware Scan".
Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper)

You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.
(This may take several minutes)

Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives. Check Local Disc C. Under What to Sweep, check every box.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system.

When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next

From 'Results', select the Session Log tab. Click Save to File and save the log somewhere convenient.

Exit Spy Sweeper.

Restart your computer, and then please copy and paste the SpySweeper log into this thread, along with a new HJT log and let me know how the computer is running now. :)
Hey man. I try to install the Java and it says: The Windows Service Installer could not be accessed. This may occur if you are running Windows in Safe Mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Is there anyway of fixing this without reinstalling windows? Spy Sweeper wont work for some reason… Ive installed it, downloaded all the updates. when it didnt work I uninstalled it, downloaded the updates again, and it still doesnt work. When I click on Scan it does nothing, its like the button is just a button and does nothing. I have no idea what the problem is…
