Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Please make a PERMANANT folder for Hijack This!

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT. MOVE (drag-and-drop) HijackThis into this folder.

If required a tutorial is here = Hijackthis Folder Tutorial

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {004A5840-FF59-11d2-B50D-0090271D3FD4} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0BF43445-2F28-4351-9252-17FE6E806AA0} - (no file)

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

c:\windows\system32\e1.dll <— file

c:\windows\system32\icmpdx3j.dll <— file

c:\windows\system32\slbrmqtr.exe <— file

c:\windows\mswiz32.exe <— file

c:\windows\mswiz32.wax <— file

c:\windows\mswiz32.dat <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread. :)

I did "System Scan Only" and checked the boxes as you indicated. I then did "fix checked". I rebooted in Safe Mode. The files would not let me delete them…kept getting "access denied". I went into DOS and tried to change their read/write permissions with the ATTRIB -r filename. Then I tried to use ERASE command on them. Still got access denied. These suckers are tough. Any further recommendations? By the way, I appreciate the assistance you have lent so far. I never would have gotten this far. I'm ready to smash the computer and go buy a new one. These virus terrorists should have their %#C*# cut off ! Tony

Please post a new HijackThis! log. I figured there was only a 50-50 chance you could remove all the files. We have "stronger tactics" we can employ. ;)

Unzip it, but don't run it yet.

Copy the file names in the quote box below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing
C (hold the key down, then press C):

Run Killbox.

In Killbox select "Delete on Reboot".

Click File (in the upper left of Killbox), and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

After the reboot, "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)

Only one file of the cut/paste files will copy into Killbox. Is there a way to type all four manually into the dropdown box. Or do I need to run Killbox four times, once for each file?

Well, I ran KillBox three times with no problems. Each time I typed in the appropriate file to delete at reboot. On the four attempt, using file "icmpdx3j.dll", I got an error message that said some registry items were pending and it could not continue with the procedure.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: e1.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: jgsdrpcn - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jgsdrpcn.dll (file missing)

Now, run Killbox.

In Killbox select "Delete on Reboot".

Paste the next line into the "Full Path of File to Delete" text box.

c:\windows\system32\e1.dll

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

When the machine reboots, "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

If this doesn't kill it, we'll graduate to something more potent, next post.

Here is another log file. However, the Killbox would not reboot on file "e1.dll". I got the message "pending file rename operations registry data has been removed by external process". So I ran HiJack again:

Thanks. I have not had any popup messages saying that I have a virus…so that's a good beginning. I'm not sure how to indicate how it's running now. Was it slowing my machine or deleting any files? :wavey: So Micah_6:8, are you an employee of McAfee? How did you learn to delete this virus.
