Forgive me if I have posted in the wrong place as this is the first time I have tried this. Any help with analysis would be greatly appreciated. Thank you sooo much.

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Please make a PERMANANT folder for Hijack This!

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT. MOVE (drag-and-drop) HijackThis into this folder.

Disable Microsoft Windows Defender:
We need to disable your Microsoft Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft Windows Defender. Click Start, Programs, Windows Defender
  • Click on Tools, General Settings.
  • Under Real-time protection options, unselect the Turn on real-time protection check box
  • Click Save
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update] wudmate.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] wudmate.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [\IEService.exe] C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\IESERV~1\IEService.exe

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\ieserv~1 <— FOLDER

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wudmate.exe <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread. :)

Bless your heart for trying to help a novice!!! So here is what I did:

Created a seperate file for HJT

I Disabled "Windows Defender"

Then "Fixed Errors" in the log you reviewed

Went into "Safe Mode"

Here is where I ran into my only glitch…
AFTER I chose "Show Hidden Files" and applied my choice ( my choice was reflected) I was NOT able to find the File: IEserve~1 in App datas. I wasalso NOTable to find the simple file IEserve (without the tag)


I was also not able to find the folderin system 32 named wudmate.exe

Where did I go wrong?
