Hello and welcome to the TC forums

Please go HERE and do a online scan.
Let me know what is found.

After scan, reboot and post a new HijackThis log

Also let me know how the computer is running now.
Ok so Here's a description of my problem if that helps you all analyze it. Originally after downloading an update to watch a video online I got a Critical error message which consisted of a yellow question mark that switches to a yellow X and has a critical error message describing virus activity. Also when i double click on the icon it brings me to a website to buy software to apparently slove this problem and another error message appeared explaining the supposed virus, I have McAffee 2006 so i didnt have any spyware protection but i realized it wasnt an actual virus so i went through various back programs myself to try and remove it. After that didnt work I contacted McAfee Bronze support where they gave me a link to a spyware program which i installed in safe mode. However that didnt remove it. So I upgraded to McAffee gold support and the guy walked me through, we found the files in safe mode and managed to delete most of them. However the spyware isnt completely gone. Currently my internet works fine and brings me to my normal homepage however the error message is still in the task bar beside the clock and im not sure if its doing anything in the background…also my internet seems a little slower then normal. Anyways the guys said i should go here, install HijackThis, get a log from that and post it here, I also ran the program sent in my other log post and it cleaned some spyware however when i rebooted the computer the error message is still there. Both the logs from HijackThis and the other program one of your experts sent me to r pasted below. Any help any of you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time jfw04.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Ok, I didnt uninstall Napster because I use it because I get free downloads from my college network but if it is nessesary I can uninstall it and then reinstall it later. Also, mywebsearch wasnt on the list of current programs. However I did delete all the programs from the registry you requested and restarted the computer. When I restarted everything seems to be working fine, internet is relatively up to speed, all the programs started up as normal and there is no error message in my task bar or when i open the internet. Anyways here is my Hijackthis log and thanks for all the help:

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.
IE Spyads
They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
