I keep getting WinAntivirus spam popups and suchlike; also a range of Trojans & virii that my antivirus doesn't seem to get rid of completely. As soon as they drop a file, it picks it up but the originals seem to be hidden away somewhere it can't fnd. We've had Klone, Dialer.28.A, plus a few others. I'm at my wits' end with this one. Hello and welcome to the forum.

Sorry about the delay in responding :(

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Please use the [external image: Posted Image] Button below to reply. Thanks
Hi,

Cheers for the response, I know you're all busy. Computer's shutting down very slowly, and we're getting constant WinAntivirus Pro 2006 windows opening. I've scanned the whole machine with up to date copies of AVG and Ewido, binned all temp files etc. but despite a clean bill of health from both, something keeps dropping infected DLLs in the temp folder of whoever's logged in. AVG reports them as Klone, Trojan horse Generic2.ETW and Trojan horse Dialer.CID. Oh, and another popup keeps appearing to

http://85.12.25.85/trafc-2/rfe.php?cmp=vm_…7&affid=862

which shows a blank page. Weird thing is, it's got tomcoyote in the URL this time around, but maybe because I have this forum open in a different tab.

I've already got rid of a couple of BHOs etc, and AVG's quarantining anything that pops up but I can't seem to get rid of (or find) the original infected files.

HJT log follows (again taken with a renamed exe). Many thanks for your help.

Hi,

Done as instructed. I assume the slowness on first restart is because of rebuilding the prefetch cache? Also, I don't think everything's gone because on restart I got an error from rundll32 saying it couldn't find kyudffi.dll. Logs follow.

Cheers,

C.

Good Job

Log looks good :D

You can delete the vundo folder

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.
IE Spyads
They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Cheers for the help; you've been great. I'm tempted to join your classroom in order to pay on the favour. How long does it take to achieve any degree of proficiency in these things? I've got AVG Free & Ewido running ATM, along with a hardware firewall & the Windoze POS firewall, would it benefit me any to get Kerio or another software firewall?

Depends on how much time and dedication you have. You can read this topic:
http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=1421

Your hardware firewall should be fine.
You only need one Anti-Virus program as well.
Ewido is fine. Even the free version can be manually updated after the trial period.

You're more then welcome.
