I have some kind of trojan virus on my computer. I get various messages when I access the internet. Some examples are Win32.Trojandownloader.zlob, Bloodhound.Morphine, W32.myzor.fx@yf, Worm.VB.ao. My computer won't startup in safe mode for me to scan with Norton. My Hijack this log is as follows:

I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this.
1) Download SmitfraudFix.zip by S!Ri from here and save it to your Desktop.
You will then need to extract the files.
To do this: Right click on the zipped folder and from the menu that appears, click on Extract All…
In the 'Extraction Wizard' window that opens, click on Next> and in the next window that appears, click on Next> again.
In the final window, click on Finish

2) Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Press "1" and then to start the search process.
When the search has completed, a text file, rapport.txt, will open with the results in - Copy and paste this report into your next reply.

A copy of the report can be found in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.
For most, this file can be found by double-clicking My Computer and then Local Disk (C:)

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

This fix is based on a canned speech supplied by Kimberly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rename your copy of hijackthis.exe to search.exe and post a fresh log. It's possible that this nasty is interfering with the normal working of HJT in order to hide itself and renaming the .exe will get around this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Run HJT (still renamed):
  • Click Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Click Open Uninstall Manager…
  • Click Save list… and save it to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the file uninstall_list.txt into your next reply.

You will need to make a copy of these instructions because you have to disconnect from the internet to complete the fix. Either print them out or copy and paste them into Notepad.

Preparation

1) Download the trial version of AVG Anti-Spyware from here and save it to your Desktop.

If you already have this program installed, skip to Updating AVG Anti-Spyware: below.

Double click the avgas-setup file to begin installation and follow the prompts.
When the program has been installed, and you click the Finish button, AVG A-S will open.

* Please note that this program was formerly known as Ewido anti-spyware 4.0.
Taken from the Ewido website -

ewido anti-spyware 4.0 will now continue under the new product name AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 contains the same ewido technology, but with some further enhanced features:

Highly improved cleaning
Lower resource usage
Additional languages supported

All current licenses for ewido anti-spyware 4.0 will continue to be valid, and users can change over to the new AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 for free.

  • Updating AVG Anti-Spyware:

By default AVG A-S is configured to update automatically so, if you have an active internet connection, it should do so following installation. If you are unsure whether or not it has done so, do the following:
  • Click the Update icon at the top and under "Manual Update" - click the Start update button.
  • Either AVG A-S will update or inform you that no update was available.
  • If you cannot access the internet with the infected PC, or you are having problems updating, you can download the signatures file from here.
Once you have installed AVG A-S, double click ewido-signatures-full-current.exe to update it.

    Disabling the Resident Shield:
  • By default the Resident Shield is active but as it may interfere with the process of cleaning your PC, it will need to be disabled.
(When the PC has been cleaned you can activate the shield again, if you wish.)
  • Click the Shield icon at the top and under "Resident shield is…" - click active.
  • This should now change to inactive.

    Changing Recommended Actions
  • Click the Scanner icon at the top and then click the Settings Tab.
  • Under "How to act?" click Recommended actions and select "Quarantine" from the menu.
You can now close AVG A-S.

AVG A-S is designed to be used to both scan for and remove malicious files and also to run in real-time alongside, but not replace, your existing anti-virus program to give an added layer of protection.
Both the Resident Shield and Automatic Updates will only be available for the thirty day trial period, after that AVG A-S will revert to a stand-alone scanner which you can keep and manually update for free and use in a similar way to Ad-Aware SE Personal, Spybot S&D etc.
Should you wish to benefit from the real-time protection, you will need to upgrade the program. To do this, simply open it and click on the Buy now button.

2) Delete your old version and download a fresh copy of SmitfraudFix.zip by S!Ri from here and save it to your Desktop.
The fix is frequently updated and it is advisable to ensure that you have the latest version
You will then need to extract the files.
To do this: Right click on the zipped folder and from the menu that appears, click on Extract All…
In the 'Extraction Wizard' window that opens, click on Next> and in the next window that appears, click on Next> again.
In the final window, click on Finish

Close the folder, you will need it later.

3) You will need to know how to boot into Safe Mode.
Instructions can be found here.

4) You will need to set Windows to show All Hidden Files and Folders.
Instructions can be found here.
** These files are hidden to stop you accidentally removing something important.
It is advisable to hide them again after fixing your computer. **

5) Log off from the internet and disconnect your modem cable for the duration of the fix.

Removal

1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following, and then reboot your PC:

MediaTickets by OIN

2) Once your PC has fully restarted, boot into Safe Mode.

3) Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Press "2" and then to start the cleaning process.
  • Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
  • You will be prompted "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ? Press "Y" and then .
  • The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to "Replace infected file ?" - press "Y" and then .
Your PC now needs to be rebooted. If this does not happen automatically, you will need to do so manually. Either way, your PC will need to be booted back INTO SAFE MODE.

4) Run HijackThis as you did to generate a log, but this time click on 'Do a system scan only'.
Place a checkmark in the boxes to the left of the following entries, by clicking on them:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {3735F847-1FDB-1721-A0AE-6743B76BAAC9} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\xtqft.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3735F847-1FDB-1721-A0AE-6743B76BAAC9} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\xtqft.dll (file missing)

CLOSE ALL OPEN WINDOWS AND BROWSERS - EXCEPT HJT and click on Fix checked

5) Navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder and delete all the files that you find there.
Do this for all Usernames.

6) Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp and delete all the files that you find there.
Do this for all Usernames.

7) Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options and under Temporary Internet files, click on Delete Files…
Check the box to the left of 'Delete all offline content' and then click on OK.

8) Go to Start > Control Panel > Display.
Select the Desktop Tab, click on Customise Desktop… and then select the Web Tab.
Under Web pages: you may see a checked entry called Security info - or similar. Highlight this entry and then click the Delete button.
Finally click OK > Apply > OK.

9) Empty the Recycle Bin.

10) Ensure that ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders are closed and then run AVG A-S.
  • If it is not already selected, click the Scanner icon at the top and then select the Scan Tab.
  • Click "Complete System Scan"
  • While the scan is in progress the PC should be left otherwise idle - so if you fancy a cuppa, now's the time to put the kettle on!
  • When the scan has completed, any threats that AVG A-S has detected will be displayed.
  • Click the Apply all actions button at the bottom.
  • When AVG A-S has finished, it will display the message "All actions have been applied".

    Saving a report:
  • Click the Save Report button at the bottom left and the "Reports" window will open.
  • The content of the scan report will be displayed in the right hand pane and a copy will be automatically saved as Report-Scan-date-time.txt into the C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\Reports folder.
  • You will need to post a copy of this report into your next reply, so if it is more convenient, you can save another copy of this report elsewhere:
Click the Save report as button and select a destination by clicking the down arrow to the right of the Save in: text box and then click Save.
Close AVG A-S.

11) Reboot into Normal Mode.

12) Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Press "3" and then to "Delete Trusted Zone".
When prompted "Restore Trusted Zone ?", press "Y" and then .

* Please Note: If you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE/Spyads, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE/Spyads, run the batch file and reinstall the protection *

Will you then post the following:
  • A new HJT log,
  • The AVG A-S log,
  • The text file rapport.txt that will be found in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.
For most, this file can be found by double-clicking My Computer and then Local Disk (C:)
  • A description of how your PC is behaving.
This fix is based on a canned speech supplied by Kimberly.

The homepage on internet explorer still comes up with WinAntiVirus 2006 and it has alot of pop-ups referring to WinAntiVirus. I haven't gotten anything from norton or avg saying about viruses or trojans.
Vundofix couldn't remove a couple of files first time round - possibly due to the other slime residing on your hard drive. See if it can do better this time:

Download a fresh copy of VundoFix.exe by Atribune from here and save it to your desktop.to your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and windows as this may require a reboot.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.
This is my updated VundoFix log:

I still get plenty of popups in internet explorer relating to WinAntivirus 2006 and sometimes it will take over the web page I am viewing and change it to the WinAntiVirus 2006 page.
1) You will need to disable Trojan Hunter's Guard function as it may interfere with the fix. To do this:
Right click the Trojan Hunter icon in the System Tray and select Settings…
Uncheck Load at startup and Enabled.

2) Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following, and then reboot your PC:

MediaTickets by OIN

3) Run HijackThis as you did to generate a log, but this time click on 'Do a system scan only'.
Place a checkmark in the boxes to the left of the following entries, by clicking on them:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {3735F847-1FDB-1721-A0AE-6743B76BAAC9} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1DAEFCB9-06C8-47c6-8F20-3FB54B244DAA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jhomvugt.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E97CF80D-5439-4125-9CA4-6AD26A8D4478} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nnnom.dll (file missing)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {C004DEC2-2623-438e-9CA2-C9043AB28508} - (no file)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ncao] "C:\DOCUME~1\Stacey\MYDOCU~1\CURITY~1\ntvdm.exe" -vt yazb
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Xrxt] C:\Documents and Settings\Stacey\My Documents\?ppPatch\w?wexec.exe

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winjnr32 - winjnr32.dll (file missing)

CLOSE ALL OPEN WINDOWS AND BROWSERS - EXCEPT HJT and click on Fix checked

4) Remove any/all of the following folders that you can find:

Folders

C:\DOCUME~1\Stacey\MYDOCU~1\CURITY~1
* The tilde(~) in either a file or folder name indicates that this name is longer than six characters and these have been replaced by the tilde for brevity. E.G. C:\PROGRA~1 = C:\Program Files
The first file, or folder, that uses these first six letters gets the suffix ~1, the next ~2 and so on.
You will need to locate and delete the folder that has this file in it: ntvdm.exe.
The file may not be present, in which case delete the folder only if you are sure you have the right one.

C:\Documents and Settings\Stacey\My Documents\?ppPatch
* This folder will have each "?" in it's name replaced by another character so you will need to be a little careful. In order to identify the right folder to delete, open each one that fits the bill and look for this file: w?wexec.exe - the same goes for the "?". As long as there is only one folder that contains a file with this name, delete it. If there are two, or more, folders that could be the malicious one, leave them alone and get back to me.

As an example:
To delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\foldertogo
Double click the My Computer icon on your Desktop.
Double click on Local Disc (C:)
Double click on the Windows folder,
Double click on the System 32 folder,
Right click on foldertogo and from the menu that appears, click on 'Delete'

Leave Trojan Hunter disabled while you complete the following:

Download the 14 day trial of Webroot's Spy Sweeper from here.
Once the download has completed, double click the file to begin installation.
During the installation you will be given the option to check for updates - click the button to allow it to do so.
Once the installation has completed, your PC will need to be rebooted.

Once your PC has rebooted, open Spy Sweeper:
  • Click the Options button.
  • Select the Update Tab.
  • Click Update Spy Sweeper.
  • I.E. will open displaying a page from the Spy Sweeper website - you can close this as Spy Sweeper will continue to update regardless.
Once the updates have all been downloaded:
  • Select the Sweep Tab.
  • Check all the boxes under "Items to Sweep" and "Other Options".
  • Now click the Start Sweep button.
Once the scan has completed, Spy Sweeper will display the results of the scan. If anything has been found, click Quarantine Selected.
If you are asked to allow a reboot, do so - if not, manually reboot your PC anyway.

Once the PC has rebooted, open Spy Sweeper:
  • Click the Options button on the left.
  • Select the Sweep Tab again.
  • Click the "View Session Log link in the bottom right hand corner.
  • Click the Save to File button - by default the log will be saved as Spy Sweeper Sessions Log.txt in My Documents.
Copy and paste this into your next reply along with a fresh HJT log AND a description of how your PC is behaving.
