Spywareblaster Damaged?

Have been trying for last week to download SpywareBlaster and no matter what site I use, get the same message saying it has been damaged possible by a bad sector on the hard drive or a virus. Have run NortonAV (Updated daily) and DiskDoctor and WinDoctor and no problems are found. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Hi Fokkerdon,

Welcome to TomCoyote Forums. You might try this link: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html, which is to Javacool's own website. I use that program all the time, and have no problems with downloading the updates so I know their link works. For that matter, I just tried it from the link in this posting, and had no trouble. Do you have an earlier version on your computer? If so, did you delete it? You might try putting the new one in a different folder (say, SB instead of BLASTER, or some such).

I would advise going to TrendMicro and running their Housecall scan, to see if there could be a virus, trojan or worm on your system. The are CLEAN and FREE; the link is: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/. When you run the scan, be sure the box to FIX ALL IT FINDS is checked, and scan your ENTIRE COMPUTER; some beasties hide in RAM to escape a hard drive scan, then reinstall themselves.

When you have done that, post a HijackThis log as an answer to this thread (please DO NOT start a new one), and one of us will check it over and make recommendations on cleaning anything that's there.
Hi and thanks for your response.
Royally messed up here.
Cannot run housecall trend micro, IE keeps saying it needs to close and does so.
SpywareBlaster keeps saying damaged so will not run.
Tried to remove Spybot 1.1 and it removed 1.2 and most of 1.1 and now cannot re-download and re-install it either.
And looking at this hijack this log, looks like my old mess CWS searchx is back.
Begging for help, glad someone responded

hopefully you can help, at present Browser Hijack Blaster is constantly telling me I am getting changed and a BHO is tryihg to get added.
Confused/lost Don
Am going to leave this computer on for a few hours in case there is any response. Will have my outlook express up for e-mail notification also.
Hi Don,

I'm thinking of something that may help. You mentioned not being able to get to sites such as TrendMicro's Housecall, and SpywareBlaster not being able to run, among other things. There is a particularly nasty variant of CoolWebSearch that does such things; it's called SmartKiller. It also can disable some firewall and VirusScan programs. (Personally I think the twonk that wrote such a monster should be hanged, SLOWLY.)

There IS a tool for it; here's the link to it: http://www.safer-networking.org/files/delcwssk.zip. Download the file to your desktop, CLOSE YOUR BROWSER AND ALL WINDOWS, unzip it and RUN IT.

When the program finishes, reboot your computer and post a fresh log here so we can see what else may be needed.

I can't say for sure that you have SmartKiller- it's tricky, and the symptoms are very subtle EXCEPT FOR ITS BEHAVIOR. Fortunately, the tool is specific to this one problem, so if it's not there nothing will get hozed up. It can help if you have SmartKiller and not hurt if you don't, so it's a good starting point.

When you post your fresh log, be sure and tell us how your computer is acting; any strange behavior can give us clues as to what's going on inside the thing. We're sorta like veterinarians in this regard- our patients can't tell us where it hurts, so we have to go by subtle signs and what their masters tell us.
Already have the tool, ran before and not here but will run again and then get back here quick. Finally got SpybotS&D 1.2 up and running, ran ad-aware and cwsshredder. Back in a couple of minutes. Don
Nope, says I don't have it, neither v1 or v2. Off to reboot and run HJT and post log and symptoms. thanks, bye for a few minutes.
OK, rebooted and ran HJT. Will post log after description and steps so far.

1. Ran Spybot S&D 1.2 (prior re-boot) showed no problems except Alexa related link from microsoft.

2. Ran CWShredder, none found, no infected IE pages.

3. Ran Aluria's Spyware scanner, it says I have 14 keyloggers on computer but am unable to afford to buy their program to fix them. Also unable to copy the results out to print and go hunt them down and delete them that way. Have written them down but not their location although they are all in HKEY.

4. Ran Ad-aware (prior re-boot) , itshowed:

Now, my computer is working @80% speed.
Start page in IE is staying after four re-boots, (which it did for two days after doing all these things a couple of days ago and then it went back to major slowdown and hang-ups and re-directions and I came here yesterday.
BUT—
I am still unable to get SpywareBlaster to run. Have removed it from the add/remove programs and downloaded it from three different mirror sites and still get the same message that it has been damaged by defective sector of hard drive or virus. I ran DiskDoctor and WinDoctor again, no problems. Then ran Compaq diagnostic tool on hard drive and it said no physical problems.
Oops, almost forgot, I re-set my IE options in security to default for the moment, hopefully Browser Hijack Blaster running will prevent hijack while I work on this.

So, at present, here is HJT log and I will try to go do the Housecall via trendmicro again while I await reply. (I ran Norton AntiVirus and it said clean).
Thank your for your assistance, here is log, will check back in a while and see what you might have come up with.

Hi, Gotta go from computer till tomorrow morning my time. Will check back then and see what you might have come up with. Thanx Don
Oops, can tell I'm tired. I tried the Housecall again, everytime I get to the part housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp I get an error message telling me that IE has encountered a problem and needs to shut down/close. SpywareBlaster still says damaged. Lost here, hope you can help. bye till AM my time (@8 hours from now.) Don
OK, let's not worry about downloading those programs for now and see if we can root out what is causing the underlying problem. Please don't run CWShredder, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Norton or anything until we have worked through this. Also when the BHO wants to install - let it, we need to see it to get rid of it.

Click here and download 'Find-All.zip'. Unzip and run the 'findall.bat' file inside. It'll run for a while and generate a file called output.txt - save it and post the contents in your next reply.
Hi Daemon, OK, downloaded the find all and will run it. Guess I best shut down and then re-boot before I run it as I ran CWShredder, Spybot S&D and ad-aware this morning and have had Browser hijack blaster running in background since. Will get back up in about 3 - 4 hours and post what find-all finds. thanks, Don
Hi Daemon, Went ahead and rebotted, IE only loading about 75% of my start page. Ran find all and this is what was found: Possible bad file(s) found… (locked) \\?\C:\WINDOWS\System32\SQLIPMN.DLL +++ File read error REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows] "AppInit_DLLs"="" "DeviceNotSelectedTimeout"="15" "GDIProcessHandleQuota"=dword:00002710 "Spooler"="yes" "swapdisk"="" "TransmissionRetryTimeout"="90" "USERProcessHandleQuota"=dword:00002710 REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects] @="" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3}] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F}] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872}] @="NAV Helper" REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\Class Install Handler] @="AP Class Install Handler filter" "CLSID"="{32B533BB-EDAE-11d0-BD5A-00AA00B92AF1}" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\deflate] @="AP Deflate Encoding/Decoding Filter " "CLSID"="{8f6b0360-b80d-11d0-a9b3-006097942311}" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\gzip] @="AP GZIP Encoding/Decoding Filter " "CLSID"="{8f6b0360-b80d-11d0-a9b3-006097942311}" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\lzdhtml] @="AP lzdhtml encoding/decoding Filter" "CLSID"="{8f6b0360-b80d-11d0-a9b3-006097942311}" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/webviewhtml] @="WebView MIME Filter" "CLSID"="{733AC4CB-F1A4-11d0-B951-00A0C90312E1}"  Will be back in 3 - 4 hours. thanks again Don
Hello Daemon,
Ok, it is 1822 PST here in California. After leaving computer off for three hours or so, then booting and then shutting down and rebooting, THEY'RE BACK :~(
Start page came up as about:blank, so I did not run ad-aware or spybot or browser hijack blaster or anything. Took at look at REGIDIT and looks like there is a lot of crap in there, inclucing HOMEOldSP, about:blank, and some that are just a mass of numbers.
So I ran find all and then I ran Hijack this. Did not try to fix anything with the hijack this, am just going to post both logs up here and you (and others?) can see what I have been fighting since April 20th.
Thanks, here are the logs and hope you folks can help me, will set computer up with outlook express open so I can get an e-mail notification of action to take.

 :( Don
