Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could help. It seems I've got a dose of Pipas. A that Spybot can't shake out. I've hit it with it a couple of times and despite saying the problem's fixed, it's kept coming back. As I said in the topic title, the main problems are that I keep getting redirects (usually when clicking Google links, but it's happened on a couple of other sites too) and my PC freezes up on boot to Windows on about 1/3 of attempts. My Hijack This log is below. If anyone could help it'd be massively appreciated.

Hi I'm Angelfire and it'll be my pleasure to assist you in your problem. Reasearching Hijackthis logs could take sometime so please, be patient while I research a fix for you. Also, I have to let experts check my fixes first before bringing them to you. Please observe these while we work: 1.) Please stick with this thread until we are finished, do not start a new topic here or start a new thread at other forums. Do not worry, We were trained to help and never give up until we get you all fixed up. 2.) Stop if you have questions!! Never proceed if something is unclear to you. We don't want to start all over again. 3.) Avoid downloading other applications or other anti-spyware programs unless you really need to. 4.) Lastly, please be patient and never lose hope. Sometimes, it will take us several tries and posts to get something done. Sit back tight, I'll be back for you!

Close your browsers and all open windows except for Hijackthis, then click "Fix Checked."

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt

Alsi, since rebooting, my home page has reverted to the default MSN and AVG Spyware has found Trojan.Small.fb
Download Killbox

Open Killbox.exe

Check the following boxes:
  • Delete on Reboot
Highlight all the entries in the quote box below and the Copy them.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\CSPCS.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\DMPCG.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmppp.exe

Then in Killbox, click File>>Paste from Clipboard

At this point the "All Files" button should be enabled so you can click it.

Click the "All Files" button.

Then click the Red X …and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes.

A second message will ask to Reboot now? You will need to click No and do not reboot just yet.

Note: Killbox will let you know if a file does not exist.

If you have any issues with this method, you can copy and paste the lines one at a time into the Killbox top box. Then click the "Single File" button. Then click the Red X …and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes. A second message will ask to Reboot now? you will need to click No and do not reboot.

Navigate to C:\fixwareout, double click fixit.bat then, fixwareout will automatically reboot your system.

Open Hijackthis > choose Scan Only > Place a checkmark in the boxes beside these entries in bold.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmppp.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmppp.exe

Note: if you see a similar line that starts with dm***.exe or cs***.exe, put a checkmark beside it and fix the line, let me know about the filename.

Close your browsers and all open windows except for Hijackthis, then click "Fix Checked."

Post a fresh Hijackthis log along with a C:\fixwareout\report.txt

Open Hijackthis > choose Scan Only > Place a checkmark in the boxes beside these entries in bold.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmppp.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmppp.exe

That file wasn't in the list, but here are the two reports.

Hi, it looks like your infection keeps on regenerating, probably because of reboots..

Please DO NOT reboot OR SHUTDOWN the computer at all cost after you post the log. If you reboot or if you shut it down, the infection will probably mutate again and it will change its name.

Open Killbox.exe

Check the following boxes:
  • Delete on Reboot
Highlight all the entries in the quote box below and the Copy them.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmeiw.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMRMA.EXE

Then in Killbox, click File>>Paste from Clipboard

At this point the "All Files" button should be enabled so you can click it.

Click the "All Files" button.

Then click the Red X …and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes.

A second message will ask to Reboot now? You will need to click No to deny the reboot.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmeiw.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmeiw.exe

Note: if you see a similar line that starts with dm***.exe or cs***.exe, put a checkmark beside it and fix the line, let me know about the filename.

Close your browsers and all open windows except for Hijackthis, then click "Fix Checked."

On your next reply, please include C:\fixwareout\report.txt and a fresh Hijackthis log.

Open Hijackthis > choose Scan Only > Place a checkmark in the boxes beside these entries in bold.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmeiw.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmeiw.exe

Hi,

Once again, no sign of the file you mentioned, but I did find O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmbzo.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmbzo.exe and checked it before the fix.

As for reports, here they are:

Did you reboot your machine?? The infection mutated again. Again, please DO NOT reboot or SHUTDOWN your machine before or after the fix at all costs. ONLY allow the reboot that will be initiated by Fixwareout.

Open Killbox.exe

Check the following boxes:
  • Delete on Reboot
Highlight all the entries in the quote box below and the Copy them.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmbzo.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMZRI.EXE

Then in Killbox, click File>>Paste from Clipboard

At this point the "All Files" button should be enabled so you can click it.

Click the "All Files" button.

Then click the Red X …and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes.

A second message will ask to Reboot now? You will need to click No to deny the reboot.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmbzo.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmbzo.exe

Note: if you see a similar line that starts with dm***.exe or cs***.exe, put a checkmark beside it and fix the line, let me know about the filename.

Close your browsers and all open windows except for Hijackthis, then click "Fix Checked."

On your next reply, please include C:\fixwareout\report.txt and a fresh Hijackthis log.

May I remind you again that you MUST NOT reboot or shutdown your machine after you have posted your log here.
Okay, I followed it to the letter, and the only reboot was the Fixwareout one, but dmbzo.exe didn't appear in my Hijack This list. Instead I got dmjjv.exe. My logs are below though.

You may want to print these instructions or save them in notepad since you'll work offline.

Please disconnect from the internet for the whole duration of the fix.

Open notepad. It must be notepad, not wordpad.
Copy and paste the text inside the quote box below into notepad.
Choose file save as and set file type to all files.
Type delete2.bat in the file name and save it to your desktop.

attrib -r -s -h C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMMBE.EXE
attrib -r -s -h C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmjjv.exe
del C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmjjv.exe
del C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMMBE.EXE

==========================
Open Hijackthis > Choose Scan Only > Place a checkmark beside these entries in bold.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmjjv.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmjjv.exe

Note: if you see a similar line that starts with dm***.exe or cs***.exe, put a checkmark beside it and fix the line. Also, please delete the file that the new entry corresponds to.

Close your browsers and all open windows except for Hijackthis, then click "Fix Checked."

Now in HijackThis! click on Config –> Misc Tools –> Open Process Manager

In the list of processes, find explorer.exe

Click to highlight, then click "Kill Process". OK any prompts.

Your desktop will disappear, but that is normal. It will come back when you reboot.

Now, in HijackThis!, click:

Run –> browse

Browse to your desktop and click delete2.bat –> Open –> OK

Browse to c:\fixwareout and click Fixit.bat –> Open –> OK

This will start Fixwareout again then, fixwareout will automatically reboot your machine.
==========================
On your next reply, please include:
  • A Fresh Hijackthis log
  • C:\fixwareout\report.txt
  • Again, please do not reboot after posting the logs.
Everyone in the house is now under strict instructions not to reboot the computer under any circumstances. :)

My new logs are as follows:
