Hello, I have been having trouble with spyware recently. I ran SmitFraudFix first, and clened up a lot of the problems. However, I still occasionally have browser interruptions, and AVG tells me there is a trojan horse detected, and it says it has cleaned it, but does not seem to have really removed it. I have my hijackthis log, if anyone can take a look. Welcome to the forum, if you still need help and are not receiving it elsehwere, please follow these instructions.

1) You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly. Uninstall one, update the one you keep and run a complete system scan, post for me any item that can't be removed, the complete name and pathway.
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.n…000031316555206
"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte…5120300087.html

2) Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

3) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\ <<< I believe your Java program needs an update, see this information:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=1…amp;postcount=2

Complete the above instructions and post a new HJT log along with the information I requested and I will take a look.

Thanks
I should mention that I deleted 2 programs manually in safe mode- ishost.exe and ismini.exe - I thought they were suspicious. Anyway, I followed everything you said. I went with AVG and ran a new scan, and found a virus called Klone in C:\WINDOWS\system32\fjvqxkql.dll, that it couldn't heal, but I moved it to the vault. Thanks for that feedback, Those two items ishost.exe and ismini.exe are often all we see of a Smitfraud infection in the log. You may have hidden junk.

Please check in add remove programs to make sure no old versions of Java are left, I see this: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\ and the new versions. If old versions are left, they are not safely patched and hackers can use them to infect you.

Follow the instructions in this link: http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=61697 ewido was purchased by AVG and is now called AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. After you run Smitfraudfix "Search", if you can see in that log items are found, then continue with the balance of the instructions. Please post both SmitfraudFix logs for me to view. Once you post the logs I will check to see what is left to do and respond as soon as possible.

Thanks…Phil
I deleted the java, and I ran smitfraud, but it didn't seem to find anything. I tried running in safe mode, and did the cleaning process, but I dont think it actually did anything. My background got removed as they warned would happen if there was no infection found. AVG could not find anything either. Right now, the problem seems to be pop-ups for a website called system doctor, and streaming videos often crash explorer. I couldn't get the log to work for AVG, but here is smitfraud's log: SmitFraudFix v2.104 Scan done at 20:58:07.37, Mon 10/09/2006 Run from C:\Documents and Settings\Anderson\Desktop\SmitfraudFix OS: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] - Windows_NT Fix run in normal mode »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\ »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS\system »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS\Web »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS\system32 »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\Documents and Settings\Anderson »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\Documents and Settings\Anderson\Application Data »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Start Menu »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\DOCUME~1\Anderson\FAVORI~1 »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Desktop »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\Program Files »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Corrupted keys »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Desktop Components »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Sharedtaskscheduler !!!Attention, following keys are not inevitably infected!!! Describe any symptoms you are receving now. Please post any error message you are receiving "word for word". I believe we may have an infection hiding from HJT. Please right click the .exe and rename it to say mcand89.exe or anything you wish. Restart the computer so the change can take effect, create and post a new HJT log. Thanks

Ok and thanks, you have a Vundo infection and other nasty junk. When you run Vundofix, it may not be able to remove the file the first time. It will tell you in the report if it deleted all items. If it does not I would appreciate it if you would upload the file to the link provided so Atribune can add it to the fix.
It may also take several runs, you are looking for all of the files to show they have been deleted.
The Vundo looks like this: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddabb.dll. There is a BHO and a 020 Winlogon.

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

Hold those logs until you finish the instructions.

How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

Start > Control Panel > Add Remove programs and uninstall RXToolBar if there and also uninstall anything else you know does not belong there. If you are unsure, let me know and I will look.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

(Some items may be gone, just don't miss any)

C:\Program Files\RXToolBar\ <<< delete the folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddabb.dll <<< delete the file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\pearqwb.dll <<< delete the file

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winexz32.dll <<< delete the file

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the results of Vundofix, a new HJT log and any comments you think will help.

Thanks
Ok, I did everything, the only thing I should mention is a file called squnrnrj.dll that was picked up byATF, looked kind of suspicious. We still have Vundo on your computer, you need to look at the Vundo report so you can see it:
Also, all of the junk I asked you to remove with HJT is still there. Please read and follow these Instructions carefully. I see no spyware programn that should block the HJT fix. If you know of one, turn it off until you are done. If you get a message from any program asking about the change, make sure you allow it. Vundo may need to run several times, you want to see that it says all Vundo files "Has been deleted" Then move to the HJT removal.
If you should have an old version of Vundo, delete it and download the newest version, it was just updated.

2) Make sure all files and folders are unhidden as instructed earlier.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1BD1BB1E-BE17-38CC-8F29-05C8E97954AD} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\seenyhg.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

(that junk must be gone when you restart the computer or you are doing something wrong)

Navigate to and delete these files or folder if they are there, if you do not have hidden files and folers showing, you will not see them!

C:\Program Files\RXToolBar\ <<< delete that folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\pearqwb.dll <<< delete that file

Run ATF-=Cleaner again, computer will be a little slower until Prefetch is repopulated by Windows.

4) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list…" Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Restart the computer and post the Vundofix results, a new HJT log, and the uninstall list.

Thanks
Im sorry I have taken so long on this, I didnt mean to waste your time. I believe I have cleaned up everything, I went through the instructions several times. However, it seems like the last post I made, I did not post things correctly. VundoFix could not find anything on my PC, so it did not actually make a new report, and I believe Vundo is off of my computer. I will post the new HJT log, and uninstall_list. The only file I had to delete with HJT this time around was O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1DAEFCB9-06C8-47c6-8F20-3FB54B244DAA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\squnrnrj.dll (file missing). I think I got everything else the first time, and posted an old HJT log instead, which may have confused you. I hope this clears everything up, and sorry again about the delay. OK, thanks for that feedback and your HJT log looks fine. I suggest you look at the uninstall list and get rid of programs you no longer use.

I suggest you read about this junk: Viewpoint Media Player

You may rename HJT if you wish.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
