I'm not seeing anything bad in your log.
Lets run a little clean-up.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

At the present time, my computer seems to be working normally…though at times it seems to hesitate before or during the loading of a webpage (more so than it used to). Also, whenever I run an AVG spyware scan it finds 15-20 tracking cookies, even if I haven't been surfing for very long.

This whole episode started when one of the other computers on my home network picked up a nasty trojan (changed the wallpaper, etc.) and I was forced to wipe it clean (this was before I heard of your site). Since I did have some shared folders, I was concerned that my laptop (the one the log pertains to) somehow got contaminated as well, as it started acting strangely. The strange behavior consisted of: the previously mentioned hesitation, as well as issues when I tried to run my normal anti-virus (SystemSuite Professional 6, which suddenly failed their startup authentication due to it having been installed on multiple computers…this is true, but why did it suddenly show up at that very time?) and also when I tried to run Trend-Micro's Housecall…difficulties downloading it and when I finally had a successful download, it completed a full scan in about 20 seconds (which seems way to fast), with no virus found. It may be that I am just a little paranoid now, and the strange things were just a coincidence, but I wanted to be sure.

Thanks for your time and effort…I hope this isn't a waste of your time.

Gray Cunningham

All I see is you need to update SunJava.
Updating Java:
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the [external image: Posted Image] icon next to it.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_5_0_09-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.
