Hi,

Download haxfix.exe
and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on haxfix.exe to install haxfix. (standard installation path is c:\program Files\haxfix)
  • Checkmark "Create a desktop icon"
  • Click "Next"
  • When the installation is completed, make sure that the checkmark "Launch HaxFix" is placed
  • Click "Finish"
A red "dos window" (dos box) will open with options:
1. Make logfile
2. Run auto fix
3. Run manual fix
E. Exit Haxfix
  • Select option 1. Make logfile by typing 1 and then pressing Enter
  • Haxfix will start scanning the computer. When it is finished a logfile will open: haxlog.txt
  • Copy the contents of that logfile and paste it into this thread. (c:\haxfix.txt)
Danny :)
Danny, I am really a newbie at this stuff, so my computer's life is in your hands! Here is the haxlog.txt… HAXFIX logfile - by Marckie ______________ version 4.20.1 Tue 10/03/2006 20:50:53.73 checking for haxdoor ——————– checking for a3d files…. a3d files found ps.a3d checking for matching notify keys…. matching notify keys found twpkad checking for matching services…. matching services found Aspi32 checking for matching safeboot services…. matching safeboot services found twpkad.sys twpkbd.sys checking for other haxdoorfiles…. Hi,

Option 2: Autofix
  • Double click on My Computer -> C:\ -> Program Files > haxfix and double click on fix.bat (or double click on fix.bat desktop icon)
  • Close all other open windows since this step requires a reboot
  • Select option 2. Run auto fix by typing 2 and then pressing Enter
If an infection is found, you'll get a message to close all other open windows.
  • Close all open windows except the red dos window from haxfix and then press Enter
  • The computer will reboot
  • After reboot a logfile will open > (c:\haxfix.txt)
  • Post the contents of that logfile along with a new HijackThis log.
Danny :)
Danny,
I ran the option 2. Here is a copy of the haxfix.txt.

Close all windows browsers except HijackThis, and click the "Fix Checked" button. Close HijackThis.

Go to Start > Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below services:

confmsp.exe

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

confmsp.exe

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

Post a new HiJackThis log after it reboots and let me know if you received any error messages.

Danny :)

Hi,

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing WebHancer.

To Get rid of WebHancer, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

WebHancer (anything that says Webhancer)

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing WebHancer, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

Next, open HijackThis, click the "Scan" button, and check the following item:

O23 - Service: Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental) (rpcapd) - Unknown owner - %ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe" -d -f "%ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.ini (file missing)

Close all windows except HijackThis, and click the "Fix Checked" button.

Go to Start > Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below services:

Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

rpcapd

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

Post a new HiJackThis log after it reboots and let me know if you received any error messages.

Danny,
Sorry it takes make so long between sessions to send replies.
I just read your latest entry and went to add/remove programs, but did not find any instance of Webhancer.
Should I still continue with the rest of your instructions?

Why is Webhancer showing up in the hjt log but not in my add/remove programs list?
I really appreciate your help and patience in my delays…
ballth05
A malicious .DLL file is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.
  • Please download LSPFix from here.
  • Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
  • You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>"
Then, open HijackThis, click the "Scan" button, and check the following items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWA6P_0001_N91M1807] "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWA6P_0001_N91M1807NetInstaller.exe" -nag

Close all windows except HijackThis, and click the "Fix Checked" button. Close HijackThis.

Locate and delete the following file:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWA6P_0001_N91M1807NetInstaller.exe

Reboot, and post a new HijackThis log.
