I have problems with ishost, isnotify, ismini, issearch. They open IE browsers and there are alerts in my notification area that pops out. Tried Windos malicious software removal tool, AVG free edition, Windows defender and Zone alarm pro spyware scanner. Could you take a look and help?? Thanks in advance.

here's my log:

Welcome to the forum, If you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, please follow these instructions.

1) Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm
Do that before proceeding.

2) Follow the directions at this link:
http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=61697

Use the Add Reply button to add your information, copy/paste it do not quote or code.
When you are finished, post the three logs requested at the end of the instructions and I will respond as soon as possible after that to see if there is more to do.

Thanks

You have been infected by one of the SpyAxe family:

Thank you for your advice, moved the hijack this to its own folder in C. carrying out the instructions now.

Here's the first HJT log and rapport:

Off to carry on the rest of the instructions. Btw, i ran a scan and clean on spybot before this, hope that doesn't affect anything?
The Spybot scan should not be a problem but the instructions I gave you need to be done in the order posted. You can see the infection in the Smitfraudfix text file, so run:

1) SmitfraudFix "Clean function"

2) ewido

3) HJT log

DO NOT run the ewido before Smitfraudfix.

Thanks
Alright, done all the steps in order..

here's the rapport file after cleaning:

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) How to use the Delete on Reboot tool
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/…l42.html#delreb
Start Hijackthis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the button labeled Delete a file on reboot…
A new window will open asking you to select the file that you would like to delete on reboot. Navigate to the file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winlef32.dll and click on it once, and then click on the Open button.
You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file. Click on the Yes button if you would like to reboot now.
After you do this and reboot the computer it should say (file missing) after the item.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

(kazaa is bad news, if you do not know why that is there, check and remove it)

O1 - Hosts: 66.132.173.82 search.kazaa.com

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winlef32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winlef32.dll

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

(they may be gone, just do not miss them)

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winlef32.dll <<< delete the file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wtzwkkl.dll <<< delete the file

6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log. Let me know how the computer is running now.

Thanks…Phil

You appear to need a Java program update, this is very important, see this information:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=1…amp;postcount=2

This is a clean HJT log. How is your computer running now?

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

the comp doesn's give me any more alerts now.. Thanks a lot Pskelley! one question about the wtzkkl.dll file, do i delete it using HJT? I couldn't delete it manually..
I see no evidence of the item in the HJT log. Make sure all hidden files and folders are enabled, then use Search Companion to search for the file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wtzwkkl.dll If the file is found then use the Delete on reboot tool to remove it, or you can simply start the computer in safe mode and delete it when it is not running. If you have any problems with it, let me know.

Thanks…Phil
First, I will say to review the links I posted, those guys are experts in the field. I personally run Spybot, Ad-aware, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard and IE-Spyad.
Zone Alarm is a good free firewall, just turn off the SP2 firewall if you run it. AVG is also a good free Antivirus program. I run McAfee but if I needed a free one, AVG would be my choice. Keep in mind that as important at least as the software you run in layered protection is the fact that these programs need to be kept updated and run on a regular basis. Combine this with good safe surfing habits and you stand a fair chance of staying clean.

Thanks
Anyway, think i'll get windows defender again.. to use with zone alarm and AVG.. and use spybot occasionally (maybe once a week). Thank you for all your help Phil. Really appreciate you taking the time to help! Gotta go to school now.. Quite amazed that someone in America can help someone like me in Singapore.. :) The good side of the Internet huh.. :) Thanks again Phil!
