WinAntiVirusPro2006 / Trojan SPM/LX

I'm using Internet Explorer and get a pop up saying there's a security vulnerability from TrojanSPM/LX. It recommends a download for software to prevent malware infections. Dialog pops up and I click "no" to installing Winantivirus2006, at which point it brings me to a website to download either Winantivirus2006 or WinAntiSpyware.

I've tried using Ad-aware, Spybot S&D, and Ewido to remove to no avail. I also have the Ewido log if that's helpful.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi eman and welcome to TomCoyote's forums :wavey:

I am currently looking over your log. As I am an Undergraduate, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Looks like we have a file Vundofix doesn't automatically find. Post following file to http://www.uploadmalware.com/ :
C:\WINNT\system32\catepl.dll

Then we continue…
* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
* You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
* When VundoFix re-opens,Click Scan for Vundo button.
* Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
* Copy&Paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes

o C:\WINNT\system32\catepl.dll
o C:\WINNT\system32\lpetac.*

* Click Add Files and Click Close Window
* Click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
* Turn your computer back on.
* Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
