Actually, I do still need help. At the moment, the computer is getting extremely laggy and has slowed down drastically since a month or so ago. Typically, I can open up 25+ tabs simultaneously without any lag, but that is no longer the case. Anymore than 5 tabs creates lag. Anyways, here is another HJT log, not that it should be any different from the one I posted a few days ago. It would be greatly appreciated if this newer one could be reviewed though. Thanks.

You have alot of stuff running.

lets see if this will help speed it up.

Backup your Registry…
- Press "CTRL - ALT - DEL" keys all at the same time to start "Task Manager"
- In the Task Manager window click on "File", then from the drop-down menu select "New Task (Run…)"
- In the "Create New Task" window enter\type "regedit" (without quotes)
- Once Regedit opens click on the FILE menu and select Export
- Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL



I recommend you download RegSeeker. Extract it to it's own folder, open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program. Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK. When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked and click the select all button, then select all again. Then right click within the search results and select delete. Run it again and again, deleting everything it finds until it finds nothing. Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly, control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything). In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click any/all files to put the information back. A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen. Reboot When done.

NOTE: To be extra safe you can choose to only remove the items in RED.

I tried using the registry cleaner, and when I tried to delete some of the files after scanning, it displayed "nom de fichier incorrect" which I translated to be incorrect file name. Any reason for this and a possible way around it? Thanks again.

    'Remove Selected" (at bottom right)
  • A backup of all that was removed will be made, just choose 'Backups' (top right) to view them, you can delete them when you're confident they're no longer needed.

Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Uh oh, right after I removed some of the things from my registry, I keep getting application errors. I restored all of my previous backups and its still telling me the same thing. I even did a system restore. What next?

What did you remove from the registry?
The fix I posted would not cause any registry errors.

Post a new HijackThi slog.

When I attempt to restore, I find that it sometimes says "Cannot import C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\backup.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or by other processes." By the way, I was talking about the fix you suggested early with the registry cleaner. I am still having problems with that first step -_- Here is the new log you requested:
