AVG Free is finding this trojan but can't remove permanently. Emails are also getting stuck in the AVG email scanner and timing out. Can anyone help? Hijackthis log attached. Thanks

Please go HERE and do a online scan.
Let me know what is found.

After scan, reboot and post a new HijackThis log

Also let me know how the computer is running now.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.


(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thanks. As well as this, I also ran "Spyware Detector" a day or two ago. The net effect of all this is that the machine seems to be running much better - IE and email particularly - but the infected files remain. Log follows. Thanks for your help

Do the following:
In Windows, on the Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.

On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the View tab, check Hide file extensions for known file types.

Then, under the "Hidden files" folder, uncheck Show hidden files and folders.

Click Apply.
Click OK.

Lets create a new restore point.

To disable Windows Me System Restore
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click the System icon.

Note: If the System icon is not visible, click "View all Control Panel options" to display it.

On the Performance tab click File System.

Click the Troubleshooting tab, and then check Disable System Restore.

Click OK. Click Yes, when you are prompted to restart Windows.


Now enable.

To enable Windows Me System Restore
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click System.
On the Performance tab click File System.
On the Troubleshooting tab, uncheck Disable System Restore.
Click OK. Click Yes, when you are prompted to restart Windows.


Let me know it that took care of the file the infected files.
