Help! My computer's possessed.

Hey…

I've been out of town and had my cousin house sit my pad while I was gone. I don't
know what he did, but my computer is just all kinds of screwed up and
I can't get any work done. If anyone could help, I'd be sincerely grateful.

Hello plowject, Welcome to the Tom Coyote Forums :) Sorry about the delay.:( We're all volunteers here, and it's been very busy. If you still need help, please post a new HijackThis log to make sure nothing has changed, and I'll be happy to look at it for you. Actually, you should make your cousin do it. He did indeed make a mess of it, and it will be harder to clean up, as there are not many tools that work on old unsupported OSs these days. :( Thanks, tea

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. As for my cousin, though he's pretty good at
making messes, he doesn't like cleaning them up. So now he's barred from using

Close all browsers and other windows except for HijackThis!, and click "Fix Checked".

Navigate to and delete the following:

w1ccdb83.dll <—search for this one

The following files I could find next to nothing on, so if you do not know what theu are, delete them.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ORDSREGP.EXE

Reboot your computer.

* Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: [external image: Posted Image]
  • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
    [external image: Posted Image]
    This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously, along with a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

Glad it's better. :)

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis! fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts

You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Please run HijackThis! and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entries, if present:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {004A5840-FF59-11d2-B50D-0090271D3FD4} - (no file)
O16 - DPF: {5526B4C6-63D6-41A1-9783-0FABF529859A} -

Close all browsers and other windows except for HijackThis!, and click "Fix Checked".

Reboot your computer.

Perform an onlinescan with panda: (please use this scanner instead of any other scanner!)
Panda Online http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm
- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open…click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Post the contents of the Panda scan report in your next reply together with a fresh HijackThis log.
