Your system appears to be infested with dialers and, if you are using dial-up, it is possible that you may see a rather high telephone bill coming in the mail. Further information on this can been seen >here<

Thanks Vino,

It's my neighbor's computer. Here is the new log. He was having trouble with blue screens related to winlogin.exe failing. I searched for the reason and found that spybot can sometimes cause this. Since I removed it, he said he hasn't had too many errors. I also cleared off some bugs that would allow someone to take control of his computer. This was before I ran into the stuff I just sent. Anyways, here is the new log.

'static.egwn.net' can be a bit tricky to remove. I see you already have Ewido installed so let's try the following:

1 - Scan with Ewido
I suggest that you print out the following instructions or highlight the remainder and save to a WordPad file on your desktop as you will no longer have an internet connection for this phase of the clean up
  • Physically disconnect your computer from the internet by unplugging the lead.
  • Reboot the computer into safe mode using a clean boot sequence
    • Select the Start button and Turn Off Computer
    • Select the Turn Off option, when the computer has shut down switch off the power supply.
    • After 10 seconds, restore the power supply and switch on the computer
    • Some computers have a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS. Others may not let you know what is happening.
    • As soon as the BIOS loads, or a single Beep is heard then begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
    • If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. If this happens, restart the computer and try again.
    • Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe mode and then press Enter.
  • When in Safe mode you will have your desktop with the word ‘Safe’ in the four corners.
To reduce the chance of AntiSpyware interfering with the fixes, please stop all antispyware on your computer. If you right-click on the icon in the systems tray you will find an option to ‘exit’. When you reboot, this will all return to normal.
  • Close all open windows/programs/folders. Have nothing else open while ewido performs its scan!
  • Open the programme by clicking on the orange Turks head
    • Click on the Scanner icon at the top
    • Select the Scan tab and then the Complete system scan option and let the program scan the machine
  • When the scan has finished:
    • Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine (1), if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu. (2)
    • At the bottom of the window click on the Apply all Actions button. (3)

  • When done, click the Save Scan Report button.
    • Click the Save Report as button.
    • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Right-click the Ewido Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
Note: Close all open windows, programs, and DO NOT USE the computer while Ewido is scanning. If Explorer or other programs are open during the scan that means certain files will also be in use. Some malware will insert itself and hide in areas that are "protected" by Windows when the files are being used. This can hamper Ewido's ability to clean properly and may result in reinfection.

Note: If Ewido "crashes" or "hangs" during the scan, try scanning again by doing this:
1. Scan one sector of the system at a time by using the "Custom Scan" feature. To do this select Scanner > Custom Scan and click on Add drive/directory/file. Browse to C:\Windows > System, add this folder to the list and click on "Start Scan". When the scan is complete, repeat the Custom Scan but this time, browse to and add the System32 folder. Then keep repeating this procedure until all your folders have been scanned. Make sure you include the Documents & Settings folder.

2. If this still does not help, then turn the ADS scanner off while making a Custom Scan. To do this select Scanner > Scan Settings and untick "Scan in NTFS Alternate Data Streams". Then repeat the steps above for performing a Custom Scan.

Re-boot the PC normally

2 - WinPFind
Download WinPFind2 from >here< and unzip it to your Desktop. Unzip the file and it will create a folder named WinPFind2. Do NOT run the program directly from the zip file.
  • Open the folder and double-click on winpfind2.exe to start the program.
  • In the File Options box click the Select All button
  • Now click the Run All Scans button on the toolbar.
  • When the scans are complete click the Simple Report button in the lower right-hand corner to create a report file. Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • In Notepad, click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
The report may be quite large so, if necessary, follow the markers [Start Post #1, etc.] to divide the report into separate posts and use the Add Reply button to post the information back here.

3 - Check on status
After you have completed the above, please provide:
- The Ewido report
- the WinPFind log
- a new HijackThis log.

Remember, it's worth printing these instructions out before you start.
