Computer is freeking out! Please help!

Hi,
Well here goes nothing. My computer has a number of problems one of which is likely the person operating it! My screen flashes black now and then, The firewall is turning off and on and the items on pinned section of start menu seem to doubled and return to normal on their own. I also found a hijacker. Agent.hi. Anything you could recomend would be soooo great! Just performed HJT and will post my log! Promise not to do anything till you tell me to. I follow orders well, if that helps any. Thank you so very much.

Please do the following:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose:Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click
  • No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE:If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.


Now run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
  • Standard
  • Scan Options:
  • Scan Archives
  • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:
  • Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information from Kapersky in your next post.


Download Silentrunners.zip from here and unzip it a new folder on your desktop.
  • Run the SilentRunners.vbs file.
  • You will receive a prompt: "Do you want to skip supplementary searches?" - click NO
  • If your antivirus has a script blocker, you will get a warning asking if you want to allow SilentRunners.vbs to run.
  • This script is not malicious so please allow it.
  • A text file will appear in the folder - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once the "All Done!" prompt flashes up, open the text file and copy & paste it in your next reply.
Please post(reply) with results from Kapersky and Silent Runners.

Hi Susan, I was hoping you would answer me. I tried the kaspersky you said but it won't go past the "scanning is being initialized…" portion of the program. What am I doing wrong?

Please try the Silent Runners.

Create a new folder on the desktop.
Copy the contents of this next code box to Notepad.
Name the file inspect.bat
Save as Type: All files
Save in that new folder on the desktop.

Double click on inspect.bat and let it run.
When finished it will open a file in Notepad.
That file will be named lsa.txt
Please post the contents of lsa.txt into your next reply here.

Hi again, how do I allow my comp to open script file? couldn't do the silentrunner program for that reason. However here is my Kaspersky. Yes I'm still having problems. The firewall is still going on and off! I think I may have problems with too many antivirus antispyware ect running at once. What do you think? The a squared seems to be running a scan ever hour and it's up dating all the time. The internet is really slow and so are all my windows opening and closing. Even just typing this there is a lag. I've got no idea what i've got done here! could it just be too many cooks in the kitchen or is it a symptom of something worse? Thanks for being patient and helping me I'm really greatful.

Let's try the following:

start > Run > copy and paste in:
sfc /scannow <= there is a space between sfc and the /
Click 'OK'
You will need your XP/2000/ME disk. If you don't have it and instead only have a recovery CD, there is a work around. View the following link for a tutorial:

sfc - system file checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

If you want to see what was replaced, right click My Computer > manage, expand event viewer > system.

  • Hit I accept. It will take you to download page.
  • Download blbeta.exe and save it to the Desktop.
  • Once saved… double click blbeta.exe to install the program.
  • Click accept agreement and Click scan
    This app too may fire off a warning from antivirus. Let the driver load.
    Wait for it to finish.
  • If it displays any items…don't do anything with them yet. Just hit exit (close)
  • It will drop a log on Desktop that starts with fsbl….big number
Test your Firewall - Please test your firewall and make sure it is working properly.

Hi sorry I took so long. I'm really confused! In the sfc file all i see is white speach bubbles with a blue "!" in the center and alot of them. I don't have an XP disk it didn't come with my computer, should it have? I bought it at future shop and have had nothing but problems with the service i recieved. I have a restore disk like a million of them all from one restore. I looked on disk 1 and found the I386 folder but there were 4 or 5 folders and they all had different things in them. I did manage to get the fsbl file and here it is. I'm so sorry if I'm frustrating you!
