Upon starting computer, some days, not every day, I get a black screen telling me to press F1 or F2 for setup like I have no harddrive. I have to restart and it is fine or if it keeps doing it, I have to reboot in safe mode and go to last known good configuration that worked and it is fine. I then, once in, do a system restore and it is fine for a few days, but then starts happening again. Thanks.

You have a clean HJT log, no malware or viruses I can see, this may be either a windows or a hardware issue.

Two things to try, once you get into windows..do this. You will have to have your windows CD for both options. If you don't have one, you may be able to call the manufacturer of your system and order one.
  • Click Start>Run
  • Type in sfc /scannow, hit Enter.
  • Note: there is a space between sfc and /scannow
  • This should replace any corrupted/missing system files and will hopefully fix things.
You may need your XP disc in your CD drive for this.

If you have your
windows CD, you can boot from it and it will take you to the Recovery Console, press R for a Repair and it will scan your system and fix any missing or corrupted files.

If you cant get a disk or the above does not correct the problem, you can try these support forums for more help. I suggest you post in our own Tom Coyote forum for "OTHER COMPUTER PROBLEMS "Since this forum is malware removal, I wont be able to help you any further.
