Hi,

I've tried following instructions given in similar topics in this forum without much success. the screen stops after startup in normal mode, and i'm left with a blue screen, no icons, and no startup menu. When going into the task manager the system resources are stretched 100% if that tells you anything.

Sometimes this error appears error loading C:\\windows\system32\guard.tmp
a dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed

I've tried starting up in safe mode and running ewito and HJ logs but it doesnt help. also have ran AdAware.

It didn't help trying restore the system to a previous configuration either.

I think I got the bug or virus when trying to install an emule file that I downloaded from mininova.

Does anyone know what to do in this situation?

You're help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin
Norway

PS I've got access to a laptop (which I now write from) which should hopefully help.

Hello ballak and Welcome to TomCoyote,

Your hijackthis version is out-of-date. Please delete it.

Please use this link and download the newest version and post(reply) with a hijackthis log. Please be sure that you unzip and have hijackthis.exe in a permanent folder like C:\HJT\ so that when we make fixes, backups of the entries will be made. You will see Download Hijackthis button in the left margin.
http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/

Please post (reply) with a new hijackthis log. I bet you that the log will be longer!
