I've encountered a problem that has, for lack of a better word, hijacked the administrator account on my pc. Command Prompt, Regedit, Taskmanager, have all been disabled by the "administrator" on the administrator account. Here is my hijack log, if anyone can help with any of this I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you!

Run Hijack This!.

Click on Open Misc Tools section

To the right of Generate Startuplist log, there are two boxes.

Check them both, then click Generate Startuplist log.

"Copy/paste" the startuplist log into this thread.

If one scan says it's "infected", you can stop there.

That file is safe, it's part of the program addon for my keyboard to configure it to work with other applications and program functions. As far as the machine, it's still the same as far as I can see. I can't really tell a difference. I can now access regedit, which I wasn't able to before. But I still can't access taskmanager, command promopt still says disabled by your administrator. And I've been experiencing some online slowness periodically. So, not sure what to do at this point other than a fresh install. But I'm sure everyone hates doing that as much as I do. Thanks for all your help thus far.

Copy the text in the following quote box into Notepad:

regedit /e reg.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System"


Save it to your desktop as ff.bat

Now, the ff.bat file on the desktop.

It will create a file named "reg.txt" on the desktop.

Open it with Notepad.

Please paste it's contents into your next post.

When I double-click the ff.bat the command prompt window pops up and says: The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator. Press any key to continue . . .

I found a fix online to go to register and change the registery value to 0 (to stop the disabling) and was able to run the ff.bat. Here is the output of the notepad: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "DisableTaskMgr"=dword:00000001

Copy and paste the contents of the quote box below into notepad.

Save it as file name: "fixme.reg" (not including the quotes). Save as file type: *All files* and save it on your Desktop.

REGEDIT4

Then, locate fixme.reg on your desktop and it.

You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?".

Answer 'Yes' and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".

Reboot.

Try the task manager now.

a. Go to "Start" -> "Run" -> Write "Gpedit.msc" and press on "Enter" button.

b. Navigate to "User Configuration" -> "Administrative Templates" -> "System" -> "Ctrl+Alt+Del Options"

c. In the right side of the screen verity that "Remove Task Manager"" option set to "Disable" or "Not Configured".

d. Close "Gpedit.msc" MMC.

e. Go to "Start" -> "Run" -> Write "gpupdate /force" and press on "Enter" button.

Note: If you are using Windows 2000, please follow KB q227302 instead stage "e".
