Welcome to the forum, sorry it has taken so long to get to you, but the board has been very busy. FYI, we search for logs with zero replies to work and when you bumped yourself, you took yourself out of that catagory.

DO THIS FIRST
Your HIJACKTHIS program is current, but it is very important that it resides in its own folder.
We will use Hijackthis (HJT) to make changes to your system and HJT will make backups of those changes,
If HJT is not in its own folder, those backups could be lost.

Easy to fix.
  • just go to My Computer > YOUR C:\ DRIVE > Program Files and create a new folder and name it Hijackthis .
  • Now scroll to where you have HJT currently, right click on the HJT icon and select CUT .
  • Now open the new folder you just created and right click within that folder and select PASTE .
  • Now HJT should reside in C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\Hijackthis.exe
Please do not proceed until you have moved HJT

Your log is about 6 days old and your system may have changed….do this

Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad, go to Format and make sure WordWrap is checked, then to Edit> Select All…..Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread by [external image: Posted Image] Button and not the NEW TOPIC BUTTON
Got it moved, here is new log:

so2315, :D Let me ask you a few things about your system. 1. It looks like you have two Anti Virus programs running at the same time, both Symantec and Kaspersky. 2. Do you have the full paid version of Lavasofts Ad- Aware spyware program installed on your system ? 3. You have Desktop weather installed, what company is that from ? 4. What specific issues are you having ? I see a few item on your log that may or maynot be bad, I will wait for feedback from you before we move ahead and remove anything. Ken :D
I used to have Norton, but switched to Kaspersky and deleted it but I can't get rid of the live update. Do have the full version of Lavasoft, and desktop weather is from my local news station, it gives me the temp out side. Issues I am having seem to be sporatic surges in processor use and high memory spikes. I can see some programs listed that have been removed but still show up. Also cannot click on a google search result that is in the upper level or column without it going to www.overture.com etc…
so2315 :D
  • Go to Start> Run and type in services.msc then press Enter
  • Scroll down to Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler
  • Double Click that service to open it.
  • Click on Stop Service.
  • Then change the Startup Type to Disabled.
  • OK your way out of the program.
  • Open HJT > Misc Tools > Delete an NT Service
  • Type in Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler
  • Then click on OK, it will ask you to reboot, do so.

Download and install the 30 day trial of Ewido Anti Spyware to your desktop.

  • Un-Select Only if threats were found
  • Close Ewido Anti-Spyware <– Do not run the scan yet.
Boot your computer into Safemode

  • This will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
  • Then press the Enter on your Keyboard
IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process:
  • Launch Ewido-Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  • Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
  • Ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
  • Once the scan is complete do the following:
  • If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
  • Next select the Reports icon at the top.
  • Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system
  • make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
  • Close Ewido

Let me see the Ewido report and New HJT log please.
* Open HJT > Misc Tools > Delete an NT Service * Type in Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler * Then click on OK, it will ask you to reboot, do so. Worked fine up until delete an Nt service. When I type Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler, it say's it cannot do it because it is not in the registry. But I did find it under services.exe.
When your done, look for this entry in HJT and if its still present, remove it.

O23 - Service: Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe
Well I ran the HJT and that doesn't show up now. But when I went into services the firist time it was there and running. I was able to stop it like you said. But now it doesn't show in the HJT, and I cannot find it under delete NT service.
