Run Hijack This!.

Click on Open Misc Tools section

To the right of Generate Startuplist log, there are two boxes.

Check them both, then click Generate Startuplist log.

"Copy/paste" the startuplist log into this thread.

Micah, Please hang with me, i ran spybot 3X but cannot rid myself of problems and spybot will not run itself on start up to clear the rest of the problems. Internet explorer now runs itself without me opening it!!! Safe mode starts then show only black with the writing across the top then safe mode in each corner. You've been infected even worse since your last post.

Download Brute Force Uninstaller.
Unzip it to a folder of it’s own (c:\BFU).
Read here how to unzip/extract properly:

Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe

Next to the 'scriptfile to execute'-window you'll see a little icon as shown in next picture:

When you click that icon, a little window will open that says: 'Please enter the full URL to the sript you want to execute'
In the field, copy and paste next URL:

http://metallica.geekstogo.com/alcanshorty.bfu

Click Ok.
Then click execute in Brute Force Uninstaller.

Extra note:
If nothing happens after pressing the Execute button, this means that the script didn't download. In that case, download the script ( alcanshorty.bfu ) manually from above url ( rightclick on it and choose 'save as' and save it in your BFU-folder). Then start BFU.exe again and click the browse button next to the 'scriptfile to execute'-window
Browse to the script you downloaded and Click Ok and Execute in Brute Force Uninstaller.

Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

Reboot and post a new HijackThis! log.

Still pop-ups but not as bad. Also my awsome son was here to help. It may be him even typing now. I just dont know. Anyway i figure that the last fwe pop-ups my be just rouge spyware, so im going to run Xoftspy and Spybot:search and destroy. Any comments on those? Thanks, Drolds amazing Son.

Xoftspy and Spybot are good.

I'd also use Ad-Aware.

Download and install these programs if you don't already have them. If you do have them, make sure they are UPDATED AND CONFIGURED AS DESCRIBED here:

Configure Adaware

Configure Spybot

Reboot after running each program.

A "2nd opinion" from an online virus scan would also be a good idea:

Put on 'Autoclean' and delete what it can't clean.

The reason the Windows firewall is "not enough" is that it is not "bi-directional".

Meaning it can stop some things from getting "in", but if something does slip past, it does nothing to stop it from inviting it's "friends" in.
