Hi,
I really hope someone can help me here as I am coming to my wits end. :(

I have two dialers that are causing some major headaches on my poor PC. They seem pretty common but the cure seems a little less. They are Trojan.Dialer.qy and Dialer.InstantAccess.k
I have two Ewido installed (full package) and Webroot Spy Sweeper (full package) but all these seem to do is quarentine the bleeders but doesn't get rid of them.

My HJT file looks clean to me but I am no expert at this.

As you can see I seem to have a few files disabled due to another virus that I managed to kill (common.exe)

I sure hope that someone can help me as I have only a few hairs left on my head and not enough to start pulling out.

Hello and welcome to the TC Forum

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."…then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.
Thank you LDTate. There seems to be an additional problem since I last posted. I get "explorer.exe" errors when opening folders. Quite annoying. There seems to be an additional problem since I last posted. I get "explorer.exe" errors when opening folders. Quite annoying. Could this be related?

Yes

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

Note : Once the pc has restarted if a log does not appear or the icons didn't disappear, run the "second.bat" located inside the L2mfix folder.

After the fix portion is done. Please run the option to restore the winlogon defaults (menu option 2) as most of the notify key is missing. After you do that post an option 1 log again.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
If after the reboot the desktop icons dont dissappear or the log does not pop up then in the l2mfix folder double click the second.bat file to continue with the fix.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

My computer is still burping here and there. The "explorer.exe" error is still there but only seems to come to light if I click on folders containing audio and video media files which incidently have all disassociated themselves from being a recognised format.

You need To disable SpySweeper, it can stop our fix.
SpySweeper

To disable SpySweeper Shields

  • Open SpySweeper.
  • Click Shield Settings on the right
(or Shields on the left, depending what screen you're on).
  • Click Internet Explorer and uncheck all items.
  • Click Windows System and uncheck all items.
  • Click Hosts File and uncheck all items.
  • Click Startup Programs and uncheck all items.
  • Close SpySweeper. After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

Also this one:
SpywareDoctor

Spyware Doctor's OnGuard protective functionality may interfere with certain HijackThis fixes we need to make. Please follow these instructions to disable it:

To deactivate Spyware Doctor's OnGuard Tools

1. From within Spyware Doctor, click the "OnGuard" button on the left side.
2. Uncheck "Activate OnGuard".

You can reenable it once your system is clean.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Sorry for the delay responding. I have hit a snag and it's tricky to describe. Basically my PC will not run in safe mode. I can select it easily enough and it will appear to load. It get's past all the loading screens but as soon as the dialogue box appears with the warning about running in safe mode and how some options will not be able to run properly I can go no further. If I move my mouse, nothing happens. If I press enter / return on my keyboard, nothing happens. Nightmare. Total nightmare. :( Blue
I tried it several times last night and kept having to reset it. I finally left it on over night and it still hadn't got anywhere. I will do it in normal mode and post back asap. Again, many thanks for the help. Blue
