1. I need to see the Ewido Report
2. I need to see a new HJT log.

Ken :D
I performed all steps, HJT could not delete everything you specified.

Those were the Startup.protected and the GlobalStartup.protected.

Some of the files you said to delete, were not there.

The popups still popup.

Here are the reports:

Your log is looking 99% better, lets work on those pop ups. Not to worry about the files you couldn't find, the scans took care of them.

Download Killbox to your desktop.
Pocket Killbox
* Copy the file in the quote box wirh the complete path by highlighting it and pressing Ctrl C

C:\WINDOWS\win32097-39180535.exe

* Click on File > Paste from Clipboard
* Check Delete on Reboot
* Check End Explorer Shell while Killing File
* Click on Single File
* Click the Red Circle with the White X.
* It will ask you to confirm > Say Yes
* It will ask you to reboot > Say Yes

Boot into Safemode, open HJT Scan Only and remove these entries.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [win32097-39180535] C:\WINDOWS\win32097-39180535.exe
O4 - Startup: .protected
O4 - Global Startup: .protected

Reboot normally and I need you to do a couple of things.

1. Please download SmitfraudFix
(by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

2. Go to where you have HJT installed and right click on the HJT Icon and rename it to Analyze.exe , then run the scan to Scan and Save a Log file and paste it into this thread along with the Smithfraud fix report.

Ken :D
Again, I failed to remove Strartup.protected and GlobalStartup.protected, they were in use

Lets run Option 2 for Smitfraud , let me see the report and a new HJT log.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart anyway into normal Windows. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

We must disable the Real-Time Protection feature of Windows Defender for it may interfere with the fix.

To disable Real-Time Protection:
  • Go to "Tools" | "General Settings"
  • Scroll down to "Real-time protection >Options"
  • Uncheck "Turn on real-time protection (recommended)"
  • Remember to reactivate this feature when we have finished all our work.

Lets do this in Safemode with windows still enabled to show all files and folders.

First follow this path and delete PROTECT if its in one or all of your Start Up folders.
C:\ > Documents and Settings > ( look in each folder for every user on your computer ) Start Menu> Programs> Startup.

Open HJT Scan Only, close all windows except HJT and remove these entries.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TheMonitor] C:\WINDOWS\Duce6.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sys10-391805357] C:\WINDOWS\sys10-391805357.exe
O4 - Startup: .protected
O4 - Global Startup: .protected

Reboot normally and open Killbox.

C:\WINDOWS\Duce6.exe
C:\WINDOWS\sys10-391805357.exe

Highlight all the files with the complete path in the quote and press Ctrl C on your keyboard.
  • Open Pocket Killbox
  • Go to File > Paste from clipboard
  • Set it to Delete on Reboot
  • Tick the box that says End Explorer shell while killing file
  • If its not greyed out..Click the radio button that say Unregister .dll before deleting.
  • Make sure ALL Files is selected
  • Click on the Red circle with the white X
  • It will ask you to confirm the deletion…Say yes
  • It will ask you to reboot, say yes

Post back and lets see if those are gone, post a new HJT log and let me know if the pop ups are gone.
No popups yet but sometimes it takes a while, will post back if I see any.

skoly,

Clean log :thumbup: You did well. I am going to list some programs that you should have to help keep you more secure , just use the ones you want, there all free and highly recommended by the people in the Malware Removal Community. Remember you only need one Anti Virus , just choose one, I am not looking at any AV on your system at all. If you install ZoneAlarm Free Firewall, be sure to disable the windows firewall by going to the Control Panel> Windows Firewall and disable it.

I will keep this thread open for you for a week or so in case you have to post back….lets hope not :rofl:

Here are some free programs and tips for keeping your system up to date, and to help keep all the riff raff out of your system.

Be sure to follow the instructions for System Restore because everything we removed is backed up in that program and if you ever use it to revert your system to an earlier date, you can reinfect your self all over again.

Download and Install CCleaner
* Click on Run Cleaner
* Run the Issues Scan < When it asks you to backup the Registry..Say Yes
Tutorial for CCleaner

Now that your clean, we need to erase all possible older infected files that may still be lurking on your system.
* Clean out your TEMP FILES
* This procedure should be run from SAFEMODE for better results.

* Go to My Computer/ C: Drive/ Documents and Settings/ Every User on this Computer Local Settings
and delete all the contents of the Temp Folder and the Temporary Internet Files Folder <–Just the contents, not the folder itself.

* Go to My Computer/ C:/ Windows/ Temp and delete all the contents of the Temp Folder <– But not the temp folder itself.

* Go to My Computer/ C:/ Windows/ Prefetch and remove all the contents of the Prefetch Folder. <–But not the Prefetch folder itself.

NOW RE-BOOT NORMALLY

* Open INTERNET EXPLORER
* Click on the TOOLS MENU
* Then INTERNET OPTIONS
* At the GENERAL TAB (which should be the first tab you are currently on),

* Then press the OK BUTTON . This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes.
* When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Now Empty your Recycle Bin

system to a previous date, you will be infected all over again so we need to clean out the previous Restore Points
