Tom Coyote Forums, i need desperate help. keep getting same nasty pop ups from IE… even if i use different browser. norton keeps detection trojan viruses.. sometimes simultaneously. slow browsing on the web. need help.

First We need to disable Ewdio Background guard so it doesn't interfere with our fix
you can turn it back on when we are done

Open Ewdio
Once the program starts You will be at the Status menuUnder "Your computers Security"
Click change status on Resident shield to inactive
Close Ewdio
Next Please Download NoLop to your desktop from one of the links below…

  • Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.
  • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
  • Double click NoLop.exe to run it
    • Carefully type this series of characters into the lower text area labelled Insert CLSID Here:

      {1C474C8C-AF9D-866B-ECF4-F00D5BD58197}
  • Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"

  • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
  • Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
  • A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log along with a fresh HijackThis log
–If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder then rerun the program.

Next Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log

Close all other open windows except Hijackthis and Select "Fix Checked"

Next Next Using Windows Explorer(Right click on "Start," select "Explore," and you will see the "tree' of file folders in the left side of the window. Click on the "+" next to any folder name to expand its contents)
Locate and delete the following fileC:\DOCUME~1\INFECT~1\APPLIC~1\BATDOW~1\type chin.exe
Reboot your PC

Next Re Run Hijackthis At the Main window select "Open the misc tool section"
Then select "Open uninstall manager"
Then "save list" and save it to your desktop
Copy and paste that list as a reply to this thread

When i try to delete C:\DOCUME~1\INFECT~1\APPLIC~1\BATDOW~1\type chin.exe it says "Cannot delete type chin: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use. i closed all windows when doing so. thankyou

Select "Delete a file on reboot"
Copy and paste C:\DOCUME~1\INFECT~1\APPLIC~1\BATDOW~1\type chin.exe
In the file name to delete
If prompted to reboot now select "Yes"
Close Hijackthis if you PC does not Reboot on it's own
Reboot your PC ->> Re run Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log

We've got one more stubborn file to deal with

First Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop ( But do not run it yet)

NextOpen EwidoUnder "Your computers Security"
Click change status on Resident shield to inactive
Close Ewido
Next Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place a check beside the following entryO4 - HKCU\..\Run: [PlayCity] C:\DOCUME~1\INFECT~1\APPLIC~1\BATDOW~1\type chin.exe
close all other open windows except Hijackthis and Select "Fix checked"
If prompted to reboot your PC->> Select No ->> Close Hijackthis

Next Double-click Killbox.exe to run it. Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:

C:\Documents and Settings\Infected Mushroom\Application Data\Bat Download Name\type chin.exe

Put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.
Once your PC restarts->>Re run Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log
