Keep getting warning abou t PUP - JokeMessageMate

I have McAfee Internet Security Suite 8 and got a number of warning on PUP - JokeMessageMate. The detail physical file name changes everytime but always point to the Local Settings\Temp\rssgthrsvc under the Documents and Settings folder, and the physical files so far suggested are not there.

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

Your SunJava, needs updated

Update Java
  • Go to Start » Control Panel » Add/Remove Programs.
  • Search for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment…. )
    It should have this icon next to it: [external image: Posted Image]
  • Click that entry and then click on the Change/Remove button.
  • Then download and install the newest version of Java from here.

Next:
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.


(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

I have McAfee Internet Security Suite 8 and got a number of warning on PUP - JokeMessageMate. The detail physical file name changes everytime but always point to the Local Settings\Temp\rssgthrsvc under the Documents and Settings folder, and the physical files so far suggested are not there.

* Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combo.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished, it should produce a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
