Hi guys, I've not had any problems with the pc for ages since following your advice. However, over the last few days the pc has been getting slower, freezing and re-booting itself. A routine scan showed some malware, spyware and trojan info which was removed by lavasoft, spy bot, ewido and zone alarm. The situatiuion is no better, and I wonder if there is something else lurking around causing the run problems. Hijack this log attached. Many thanks for your help in anticipation.

Hi I'm Angelfire777 and it'll be my pleasure to assist you in your problem. Reasearching Hijackthis logs could take sometime so please, be patient while I research a fix for you. Also, I have to let experts check my fixes first before bringing them to you. Please observe these while we work: 1.) Please stick with this thread until we are finished, do not start a new topic here or start a new thread at other forums. Do not worry, We were trained to help and never give up until we get you all fixed up. 2.) Stop if you have questions!! Never proceed if something is unclear to you. We don't want to start all over again. 3.) Avoid downloading other applications or other anti-spyware programs unless you really need to. 4.) Lastly, please be patient and never lose hope. Sometimes, it will take us several tries and posts to get something done. Sit back tight, I'll be back for you!
I noticed that you are not running any AntiVirus application. You could get infected immediately after we clean you up. I suggest that you get ONE of these:

» Avast!
» AVG AntiVirus
» AntiVir

You are currently using an unpatched version of Microsoft XP. It is CRITICAL that you update to Service Pack 1
Please visit this link:
Microsoft Service Pack 1

and install Service Pack 1. If you run into troubles, please post them here.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT update to Service pack 2. Doing so before your computer is clean can cause Windows to become unstable.
We will update to SP2 when you are clean.

Please post back with a HJT log and your computer running with Service pack 1, or with any problems you are having updating.
Hi Angelfire I've had major problems with the pc over the last 2 days. I've downloaded Avast finally, but it has a problem The AAVM subsystem detected RPC error. It has processed and found alot of infections (mostly (Trj) and some have been deleted, but it wont load correctly from restart and is 'greyed' out in the toolbar. The next problem has been with the XP SP1..I tried to download this and found an error message Product key Invalid which seems to indicate a corrupt version of Windows XP! So I dont really know where to go from here. As an aside, there is a message when the pc loads up Explorer.Exe - no disk ( I've not seen this before.) Any help is much appreciated.
It is possible that some of the entries are hiding from us, so I suggest you to please rename hijackthis.exe to something like hjt.exe
