I keep using spyware removal and anti virus programs but everytime I connect my notebook online Data Dennis.exe keeps popping in every folder in my Shared Folders. anti vir says it has a signature for WORM/Brontok.E.1 virus. Please help me finaly remove this virus. Thanks

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

First download ewido anti-spyware from HERE and save that file to your
desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program
  • Once you have downloaded ewido anti-spyware, locate the icon on the desktop
    and double-click it to launch the set up program.
  • Once the setup is complete you will need run ewido and update the definition
    files.
  • On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "
    Update now    " link.
    • Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a
      progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of
    the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then
    select "Quarantine".
  • Under "Reports"
    • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
    • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
Close ewido anti-spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

Don't run it yet.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All.
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you have Firefox, under Firefox choose: Firefox cache and Firefox cookies
Click the Empty Selected button.
Close the program.

Then please run Ewido, click on the Scanner run a full scan and let it clean everything it finds.

Save the logfile from the scan.

Boot in normal mode.

Nope. Data Dennis still keeps popping up in my docs. Anti vir has to erase it everytime I view the folders. I dont know where it comes from. Do you think its because of one of my downloads?

Does it appear when you access any folder, or just some folders? :unsure: Give me an example of a folder it appears in when you access it.

Look in one of the contaminated folders. Is there a file with the same name as the folder (with a folder icon) in it? :unsure: Example: In the "Shared documents" folder, is there a file named "Shared documents"?

Yep, and on the first folder infected (root folder/ Shared doc's in my case) thre's this exe. Data Denis. I always delete it. It always reappears though, and all the folders under Shared Docs have the file that has the same name as the folder.

Ran the scanner. it dint see anything bad and it opted me to scan with my AV(Avira) dint see anything too.By the way, I just installed zone alarm firewall. Win32 sumthing just keeps poping out to be blocked by the firewall. My com seems clean today. connected to the net for a few hours nad i dint see "those" in my shared folder. I'll observe it a bit more and see if ti comes back.
