I've been fighting these two viruses on a friend's machine for a couple of weeks now.

I'd been trying to chase them down with Avast including the boot scan, they keep coming back! Argggh

Today I used Ad aware and Multi Virus Cleaner, when I started running Ad Aware, Avast started going nuts and so I deleted every instance it found. Adaware found stuff that I got rid of, then I ran (new today version) of Multi Virus Cleaner it fouund nothing.

I rebooted and ran both Adaware and Multi Virus Cleaner neither found anything so I ran HijackThis and included the log below. So just because I don't belive they are really gone could someone please check out that log and tell me what's what?

Mucho TIA
Jim

Thanks Micah, I did as you said, kill box had a hard time deleteing artm_new.dll so I set it to delete with a reboot, seemed to work, then I typed in the other two manualy and deleted them. So I considered it a success. Then I noticed that the machine was running really slow so I opened task manager to see what was up. AshMaiSv.exe was going crazy so I looked into Avast On Access Scaner and the internet mail scanner, and lo and behold I'd sent out 1500 plus e-mails in a half hour! At this point I've taken them offline and I think I'm going to format tomorrow. If you can think of what might be causing this I'd appreciate anything you can tell me. Thanks Jim
Right Doh! I did build one to make sure I'd gotten rid of the things you said to and they were gone but I didn't think to save and send it. I won't be able to get access to their machine until later today. Thanks
