Okay, so i have tried everything, i've recently been subjected to a number of viruses (command.exe which was a pain, amoung a couple of others) and have had a strange onslaught of adware etc… i've lifted quite a lot of it, but still having problems and just cannot see what is running that could be bad… everything in my process list seems normal…

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Download Killbox from here:

Killbox.zip © Option^Explicit

Unzip it, but don't run it yet.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Shell Extensions - C:\WINDOWS\system32\guard.tmp (file missing)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winzzc32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winzzc32.dll

O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\SGFycnkgTHVjaw\command.exe (file missing)

Then click "Fix checked" & close Hijack This!

Now, run Killbox.

In Killbox select "Delete on Reboot".

Paste the next line into the "Full Path of File to Delete" text box.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winzzc32.dll

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

When the machine reboots, "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)

Thanks for the help Micah… appreciate it!

First of all, i've had that command.exe (file missing) for ages and i've tried using HijackThis to erradicate it a number of times! :(

Secondly, should i have done any of these steps in safe-mode? As everything so far has not been.

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Now, please go to:

Start –> Run

In the box type in services.msc then hit < Enter > (or click OK)

In the Name column look for:

Command Service

< Double-click > it.

In the dialogue box that pops up, check in the Path to executable box.

It should say: C:\WINDOWS\SGFycnkgTHVjaw\command.exe

That's how to be sure you have the right one.

Now, click Stop to stop that rogue process.

In the Startup type box, change it to Disabled.

Click Apply then OK

Close the services.msc window.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread. :)
