Need Help Removing Some Type Of Spyware

Someone else was recently using my computer and must have downloaded some type of spyware. Everytime I use Internet Explorer my firewall says: A program has tried to access the Internet. Name: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\sccsccp.exe Path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\sccsccp.exe This has never happened before. I keep trying to click on No but then the message just pops up again. Also I opened Notepad to try to use it and instead it opens and says Welcome to the Accessibility Wizard and if I try to search for Notepad it says the notepad .exe file doesn't exist. I'm really worried that whatever has happened to my computer is deleting other important things on my computer. Do you know what this is and if any of my other files may be affected? Also when I remove whatever spyware has gotten in will my Notepad work again? Thank you so much for your help. I REALLY appreciate it. There are two lines in my log that refer to that sccsccp.exe that my firewall keeps alerting me about. Here is my log:

First of all, click here to download TheKillbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Make sure the 'Create backup before deleting file' box is checked. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry, clicking 'Kill File' after pasting:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\sccsccp.exe

Click 'Exit' when done.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Click File, Open!Submit and you will see a folder bearing the date that you used TheKillbox. Open it and find the following file: sccsccp.exe - zip it up and send to this e-mail address including a link to this thread in the body of the email.

Thank you very much for your help. I downloaded TheKillbox and followed the directions and just e-mailed that address. Any information you may have on how I can get this all fixed is very greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. :)

Thanks - I'll have a look at that file and get back to you. In the meantime could you post another HJT log. Could you also use Windows Explorer to seach your whole system for notepad.exe - let me know if you find it.

Hi. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. I searched for notepad.exe and did find a listing under C:\I386 and Notepad under C:\Windows and also a notepad.exe-2F2D61E1.pf under C:\Windows\Prefetch. I clicked on those first two and they did open notepad but when I click on it on my desktop it still goes to that Accessibility Wizard. Since it's a Trojan do I have to worry that it could have gotten any of my passwords etc. - that maybe I should change them.

We stopped it from running, now let's remove the last traces.

Your version of HijackThis is very old. Could you click here to download the latest version. Doubleclick the file, click Unzip and it will save the application to C:\HijackThis. Run it from there to scan your computer.

Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [sccsccp] C:\WINDOWS\System32\sccsccp.exe

Reboot when done.

Using Explorer again, navigate to C:\Windows\notepad.exe and copy/paste the file into C:\Windows\System32.

It's probably a good idea to change your passwords to be on the safe side. Let me know how you get on.

Hi. I downloaded the new HijackThis and ran it again. I deleted the second thing you mentioned but the first part was no longer listed when I ran HijackThis. Instead there is a line that mentions www.ewebsearch.net in place of it. The registry must have gotten changed again. Do I have to delete that entry? Also there is something at 017 that wasn't there before. I will post the newest log. Thank you so much for your help with all of this! :) I really appreciate it!
