CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msconfig38] mssvcc.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [msconfig38] mssvcc.exe

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

e:\windows\system32\mssvcc.exe <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread.

Now that you have a firewall, maybe this will keep the bug from coming back.
:)
Dear Micah,

Followed your instructions, Zone alarm has blocked winsystems.exe from connecting to Internet, but the file exixts, and I am not able to kill it. Also could not find mssvcc.exe in safemode. Attaching the latest log for your info.

Dearest Micah,

Good Evening, God Bless you dear, I think finally after following your last instructions of restoring the system those infections are out! I had also downloaded full 266mb of xp 2 installation and upgraded my o/s on a poor internet connection. (Dial up GPRS 4KB to 1.5KB/s). Now I will require your advise on two things, windows also have the firewall with xp 2, I had already installed zone alarm, which one to use, presently I am satisfied with zone alarm free version, but will it continue its good service in time to follow? Secondly, there is a virus in the system file "I-worm Zasran F" Avg checks it and is unable to heal or delete, how do I get rid of that?

Just go through the latest log, and let me know your observation with advise! Once again many many thanks for your patience with a person like me and timely advise.

Yours faithfully,
Ashfaq Shaikh

I'm not seeing it.

Can you post a "full path name" (i.e. "C:\Windows\Virus.exe") of the offending file?
I am sorry I did not see the notepad wrap feature! Well the file is here: E:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\localsettings\tempinternetfiles\content.I.E5\OT6NC5QR\10.190….I could not read further, I had written the name and typed for you as it was not possible to copy it from test results. and the latest log follows:-

Your HijackThis! log looks good.

From an earlier post:

E:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\0T6NC5QR\10.190.118[1] -> Worm.Banwarum.f : No action taken.

You should be able to navigate and delete that file using Windows Explorer.
:)
I had done as said lets hope this is finished now! I will let you know after checking, I had requested your advise on Firewall! please do that. Thanking you, Ashfaq Shaikh.
