Download/unzip Killbox from here:

Killbox.zip © Option^Explicit

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Now, run Killbox.

In Killbox select "Delete on Reboot".

Paste the next line into the "Full Path of File to Delete" text box.

E:\WINDOWS\System32\mssvcc.exe

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

When the machine reboots, "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread. :)
REGEDIT4 ; Registry Search 2.0 by Bobbi Flekman © 2005 ; Version: 2.0.1.0 ; Results at 8/20/2006 11:46:09 PM for strings: ; 'mssvcc' ; Strings excluded from search: ; (None) ; Search in: ; Registry Keys Registry Values Registry Data ; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE HKEY_USERS [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1960408961-1972579041-682003330-500\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru\5603] "000"="mssvcc.exe" ; End Of The Log… The utility went on checking further to find all the instances and this is the final report, although no change!
The system did not reboot! This dialogue is being displayed," Pendingfilerenameoperations, Registry Data has been removed by external process."
Press these three keys at the same time:

Ths task manger appears.

Click the "Processes" tab, then click on Image name to sort them alphabetically.

In the list of processes find:

mssvcc.exe

Click it to highlight it, then click "End process"

OK any prompts.

Close the task manager.

Then try the instructions in my last post.
:)
This file is not seen in the list of processes! I checked thrice, is it possible that this file has been deleted? because now I am online for more than an hour, and internet is also smooth, or it will return after reboot , or later with vengeance? check this out this is the latest log, without reboot offcourse.

Dear Micah,

The problem recurred! well it so happened, last night after, we concluded the problem has gone I was more confident today.

I started surfing in the morning fine for about 40 mts, than I switch on the resident shield of evido, within minutes it came up with the known popup and the connection is now virtually dead eating up all the receiving bytes and converting them to sent! I dont know I will be able to post this across! Should I uninstall evido or keep the resident shield inactive, so that it does not find out this!

Let me know!
Ashfaq.

Thanks I was able to post it, now my sent received bytes data ratio is 1:1.2 when it become equal or lessthan I gone off the air! until removing it by adaware deleting, and rebooting to remain active for God knows how many minutes! well the mail client is now failing to connect, i should stop!
Dear Micah,
Good evening! I was out of twon for three days just arrived, checked your mail, and following your instructions. The first time I tried but could not connect due to poor connection caused by the infection, scanned by AdAware, and found two critical objects/processes, i am attaching that log. What I feel Micah, AdAware better than evido, kindly go through the log and advise me on my views as well.

lets hope today we succeed in getting rid of this once for all.

Ashfaq Shaikh.

Fix these with HijackThis!:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsystems25] winsystems.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msconfig38] mssvcc.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [winsystems25] winsystems.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [msconfig38] mssvcc.exe

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Find and delete:

E:\WINDOWS\System32\winsystems.exe <— file

E:\WINDOWS\System32\mssvcc.exe <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new HJT log file, and the report.txt file from Ewido, into this thread.

You need a firewall.

Free ones can be found here:

Securing Your PC After An Attack

Pick one (or find one of your choosing), and install it.

Good Morning Micah,

Could not find you last evening, might be busy I guess! Waited for you for an hour than went to sleep. I am in India so the time difference is there.

Any way as per your instructions, installed Zone Alarm, after cleaning with your prescribed utility. 'mssvcc' was trying to connect to internet, that is what the zone alarm displayed, I denied the access, is it okay? I dont know again a popup to allow access to port 445 was asked and I denied. Any way I will have to learn what happens when blocked certain items.

Well thanks for all the guidance from you, i do believe, hence forth may be be I am really safe from the attacks of malware and spyware! I am attaching latest htl log for your info!
