I hate this. I have Norton Antivirus, Ad-Aware Personal(latestupdate), and Spybot(Latestupdate). All have searched through my entire computer. Nothing was found.

I get popups all the time. One even is a windows prompt saying: critical system error!

I also have casino type link popups. A systray icon sometimes pops up with a yellow triangle with a ! in it. It says I have spyware or critical viruses or something. I need to double click on it to get rid of it and that opens up a website to "spyware removvers" and the icon dissapears for awhile.

My adaware, spybot, and Norton don't work.

As an Undergrad, all my fixes will be checked by an expert before I post them for you, so please be patient with any perceived delays. Now and until we're finished, please:

WARNING - Your computer has been infected with a Dialer. Such programs use your dial-up modem, if you have one, to dial expensive 900 numbers without your knowledge. Immediately disconnect this computer from any phone line (DSL, cable, and wireless are not affected), and watch your phone bills for any suspicious numbers or charges.


Move HijackThis into a Permanent Folder
You are running HijackThis out of a temporary directory. Please create a folder in My Documents and call it Hijack (or something similar). Then extract HijackThis into the folder you have created and run it from there (this is beacuse HijackThis cannot create backup files while it is being run from a temporary folder).


Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
