Hi Guys,

Have seen that you are experts in the matter and so am asking your help.
Two days ago while downloading a file it seems I met a virus.
I have F-Secure antivirus protection and AdAware.
As soon as I clicked on the downloaded file, F-Secure detected PECompact virus in a file called WINNJY32.dll.
F-secure couldn't disinfect the file so I deleted it. From then on, I recieved frequent trojan detections (one of which trojan.win32.dialer.pz) in files like win43a.tmp.exe and similar. I always deleted these files when detected. The third stage of infection was the great number of pop-ups regarding spyware security, files mysteriously appearing on desktop, homepage changing to sites and even porn pop-ups.
Another strange thing is that when I try to use disk clean-up, or scan the drive with F-secure, the PC suddenly switches off (no software shutdown, just immediately off). This also happened once during scan with AdAware.

Here is the HijackThis log.

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. It will create a file named:

c:\rapport.txt

Open that file with Notepad, and "copy/paste" the ENTIRE CONTENTS of it into this thread.
Hi Micah, I am currently at work and so can't try your instructions but will do so as soon as I'm home. I don't know if I may ask, but what is the time there with respect to GMT. Here I am at GMT+1. I'm asking so that I make sure I am online when you are actually on-line and so can work out the problem in real time. I'll post the SmitFraudFix report as soon as I'm home. Thanks for your help Stephen
Okie Dokie.

I'm sure you're infected with a variant of this infection, as these are present:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ishost.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\issearch.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\isnotify.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ismon.exe

Hi micah, It's been almost an hour since I was trying to reply. The worms inside my PC are so vicious that they wouldn't let me access the website and I was always getting a "Error 404 - Use Spy Doctor" or something like that. So i had to make some counter-actions, which I hope did not mess up you curing plans. First I tried to use SpyBot but my PC once again decided to switch off on its own. Then I went in SAFE mode and ran SmitFraudFix to clean the errors it had found and this managed to allow me to send you this reply. You may still have a few "bugs" in the woodwork.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MICROSFT ANTIVIRUS UPDATE SUPPORT] ueasemoipi.EXE

Have a clue what that is?

If not, do this:
Fix these with HijackThis!

Hi

At first I thought there were 2 items to delete but after re-viewing you reply, found out there were 3.
So I also took out the third one and here is the new HJT log.

Yes running better overall. However I tried to run SpyBot but once again the PC went off during scanning. Actually there were some red items in the report window, but did not mamage to see them except the first one which said "virus override" or something like that. Do you think it is a hardware problem? If it was a desktop PC I would try exchanging the power supply but being a laptop, wouldn't know where to start. One other thing, which virus scanner should I use? Should I scrap F-Secure and use something like Antivir for example? Thanks for your help again Stephen
Run Spybot while in "safe mode". See if that helps. If you have an active antivirus, and a firewall, Spybot may find some "override" items concerning each one. If it does, and you DO have an active antivirus/firewall, you can on the items in the Spybot window and choose "Ignore", I believe. Is F-secure a firewall, antivirus, or both?
Hi Micah,

I did try SpyBot in safe mode, but the PC still went OFF.
I ran the Ewido several times, each time scanning a part of the drive, so that the PC does not switch off.
These are the results of the 2 scans which found trouble: -1st one is registry, 2nd one is C:\windows & C:\documents and settings

As you can see there were still some bugs to solve.

Also during one of the spybot scans which never finished, I noticed that spyware were detected but I never manage to check exactly what they are. I noticed that one of them was related to toolbar888 and should be in a folder called "interface" but after I re-started, couldn't find this folder.

F-secure is an Anti-virus but not a fire-wall (I think). I update it daily but seems it's not enough to protect me. Thus I believe I should move to another one…..maybe you can suggest one.
Also, a strange thing is that the CECompact virus which was detected when I first had the problems seems to be either dormant or has gone.

Finally I post here my latest HJT log. Now I better go to sleep as in 6 hours time I wake up to go to work.

The log looks good.

I wouldn't worry about the two items Ewido didn't remove.

The pc-turn-off could be a hardware problem.

I don't see any malware left to be causing it.

You need a Firewall. The one that come with Windows is not enough.

There are free firewalls here:
