this wont work on my IE6 and updated yesterday to IE7

whenever i click start online scan there is always a little pop up comes up and it said "pepe"

Hoosier,

Two ways to go.

1. Call Charter and ask them if they require a proxy server for internet access.

2. Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools> Internet Options. Connections> Lan Settings and take the checkmark if there is one out of Proxy Server. Reboot and see if it makes a difference. You can always reset if back if you need to.

Hoosier,

You have two anti virus programs running, thats not a good thing, it causes muliple problems, it could possiby be the root of this problem. I suggest you remove one via the Add-Remove programs in the control panel. You also have Sunbelts Firewall installed, if nod32 includes one also, this could be another problem.

You have Ewido installed, have it set up this way , run the scan and make sure you save the report and paste it into your next reply. It may show us if something is hidden on your system. After you run the scan, open the program and disable the background guard feature, it may be interferring with the fix.

Also disable these two temporarally. Just open them up and look for a preference tab and have it not load at start up.

* Once you have downloaded Ewido Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.

Boot your computer into Safemode

* As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly,
this will bring up a menu.
* Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
* Then press the Enter on your Keyboard

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:

* Lauch Ewido-Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
* Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
* Ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
* Once the scan is complete do the following:
* If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
* Next select the Reports icon at the top.
* Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system
*** make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
* Close Ewido

You log looks ok :thumbup: What I would suggest you do is to open the Add Remove programs in the Control Panel, and look for programs that you have not used in the last 6 months and uninstall them if you think that you will never use them. You may also want to open the programs that you are using and look for a feature to load at start up, most programs dont need that option. I did this myself about a month ago because as time goes on and you install software, you get a large build up of junk. My PC booted up and shut down faster when I was done.

Run this system cleaner
Installing this program will by default install the Yahoo Toolbar. You can remove the Yahoo Toolbar if you wish via the Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
Download and Install CCleaner
* Click on Run Cleaner

This list is just a guide and there totally at your option. You can remove them with HJT. If there are any that you want to restore, just open HJT> View a List of Backups and restore the ones you want.
